Annadale Hockey Club
Annadale Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Belfast playing all home games at Lagan College. Formation The club started life as Annadale Grammar School Former Pupils in 1968. While it became an open club, the connection with Annadale Grammar School, now Wellington College, remained strong. Coaching continues and the school playing facilities are still used by junior teams. Current Kit The current kit is manufactured by BLK and displays the logos of all the club's sponsors across the shirt and shorts. Current sponsors are Motis Ireland, Burger King, Rich Sauces, Tayto, Lowe, Johnston Kennedy DFK. Early ascent The club rose through the league structure, gaining promotion to senior status following its Intermediate League win in 1970–71. Strathearn School
Strathearn School is an 11–18 girls voluntary grammar school in Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. History In 1864, of land were bought by William Mullan and Robert Mullan, on which Strathearn House was built. In 1904, Mullan sold the house to Alexander Taylor, who died in October 1928. The house was then sold to the Victoria College girls' school, based in south Belfast, and which opened Strathearn School in 1929 to serve as a junior school, serving the Belmont and Knock areas. The initial enrolment was 63 pupils. Miss Miskelly, who taught classics at Victoria, became the first headmistress. At this time, the school was co-educational. Boys, however, left the school at age eight, with most moving to Cabin Hill boys' school, while the girls stayed until fourteen, after which they could move to Victoria. The Men's Irish Junior Cup is a knockout trophy played for field hockey clubs in Ireland. Entry is open to sides that do not qualify for the Irish Senior Cup and to the second teams of clubs that play in the Irish Senior Cup. The trophy was first played for in 1895, a year after the Senior version of the trophy. Historical format From its start in 1895 until the 1980s, the tournament was played in regional tournaments. The winners of the regional tournaments in Leinster, Munster, Ulster and at times Connacht would proceed through to semi-final matches. The finals were played in one weekend until 1935. The final was then moved to a separate weekend. The change was prompted by the circumstances of the 1934 finals. Graham Shaw (field Hockey)
Graham Shaw (born 1978) is a former Ireland men's field hockey international and the current coach of the New Zealand women's national field hockey team. Between 2002 and 2009 he made 151 appearances for Ireland and also represented them at the 2007 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. As a coach he guided the Ireland women to the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final, winning the silver medal. As a player Shaw won Irish Senior Cup and EuroHockey Club Trophy titles with both Glenanne and Monkstown. On 9 May 2010 Shaw featured in two Irish Senior Cup finals on the same day, coaching Loreto to victory in the women's final before going onto play for Glenanne in the men's final. Stephen Alexander Martin (born 13 April 1959) is a former field hockey player from Northern Ireland who represented both Ireland and Great Britain at international level. Between 1980 and 1991 he made 135 senior appearances for Ireland. He also captained the Ireland team. He represented Ireland at the 1983, 1987 and 1991 EuroHockey Nations Championships and at the 1990 Men's Hockey World Cup. Iain Lewers (born 5 January 1984) is a field hockey player from Northern Ireland who represented Ireland, England and Great Britain at international level. Peter Caruth (born 4 June 1988) is an Ireland men's field hockey international. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. The Kirk Cup is the oldest hockey tournament in Ulster and the oldest provincial hockey trophy in Ireland.
