Anna Ziaja
Anna Ziaja (born August 1, 1954 in Wrocław) is a Polish contemporary painter and print maker. Biography Ziaja was educated in the faculty of painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and graduated with an honours degree in 1979. Her unique vision of contemporary art comes from her love of Italian art from Trecento to Cinquecento,from Masaccio to Vittore Carpaccio fused with her Polish heritage and paintings of Zygmunt Waliszewski and Eugeniusz Zak. Her concepts are an expression of poetry and personal contemplation, from the melancholic to sometimes bitter reflection. Ziaja's paintings present a psychological abstract of human fate; a depiction of multifaceted personalities inexorable linked in everyday complexities, portraying the individualism of the world. Jan Cybis
Jan Cybis (16 February 1897 - 13 December 1972) was a prominent Polish painter and art teacher. Biography Cybis was born in Fröbel (now Wróblin, Opole Voivodeship, Poland) and studied at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, settling in that city from 1934. The German Expressionist Otto Mueller was his mentor. He studied under Józef Pankiewicz among others, developing a reputation for a post-impressionist style using rich, saturated color influenced by the French. In the 1930s Cybis was among the most prominent of the Kapists or Paris Committee, a significant group of Polish painters of the time. His wife Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowa (1897-1988) was a notable painter in her own right and also active as a Kapist. Comics in the Philippines ( fil, Komiks}) have been widespread and popular throughout the country from the 1920s to the present. Komiks were partially inspired by American mainstream comic strips and comic books during the early 20th century. The medium first became widely popular after World War II. Its mainstream appeal subsided somewhat during the latter part of the 20th century with the advent of other mass-media forms such as telenovelas, but experienced a renaissance in the mid-2010s with the increasing popularity of artists such as Gerry Alanguilan, Arnold Arre, Budjette Tan, Kajo Baldisimo, and the rise of fan communities through comic book conventions such as komikon. Webcomics produced by independent Filipino web-based artists have caught the attention of local and foreign readers.
