Anna Skarbek
Anna Skarbek (born 1976) is an Australian businesswoman and former investment banker. In 2009 she became the executive director of ClimateWorks Australia, a non-profit group which develops projects to reduce carbon emissions. Under her directorship, the company was awarded a Eureka Prize in 2010 for developing a "low carbon growth plan" with applications for business. Skarbek studied law and commerce at Monash University before taking a job in Macquarie Bank's natural resources team, with a focus on coal transactions. In 2002 she became a climate change adviser to the Victorian deputy premier, John Thwaites. From 2007 to 2009 she worked as an investment manager at Climate Change Capital in London. Skarbek sits on the Government of South Australia's low-carbon expert panel with former Liberal party politician John Hewson and ANU Professor Frank Jotzo. Climate Change
In common usage, climate change describes global warming—the ongoing increase in global average temperature—and its effects on Earth's climate system. The current rise in global average temperature is more rapid than previous changes, and is primarily caused by humans burning fossil fuels. John Thwaites (Australian Politician)
Johnstone William "John" Thwaites (born 15 October 1955), is a former Australian politician, and served as Deputy Premier of the state of Victoria from 1999 to 2007. Early life Thwaites was born in Oxford, in the United Kingdom, and came to Australia as a child with his family. He was educated at Melbourne Grammar School and Monash University, Melbourne, where he graduated in science and law. He practised as a barrister before entering politics. He was a ministerial advisor to Labor Party state government ministers Jim Kennan and Andrew McCutcheon before being elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the seat of Albert Park. John Hewson
John Robert Hewson AM (born 28 October 1946) is an Australian former politician who served as leader of the Liberal Party from 1990 to 1994. He led the Liberal-National Coalition to defeat at the 1993 Australian federal election. Hewson was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and earned a PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins University. He has also attained degrees from the University of Sydney and the University of Regina. Before entering politics, Hewson worked as an economist for the Reserve Bank of Australia, an economic advisor to the Fraser Government, a business journalist, and a director of Macquarie Bank. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) or carbon capture and sequestration is the process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) before it enters the atmosphere, transporting it, and storing it (carbon sequestration) for centuries or millennia.
