Anna Karenina (2012 Film)
''Anna Karenina'' is a 2012 historical romantic drama film directed by Joe Wright. Adapted by Tom Stoppard from Leo Tolstoy's 1877 novel of the same name, the film depicts the tragedy of Russian aristocrat and socialite Anna Karenina, wife of senior statesman Alexei Karenin, and her affair with the affluent cavalry officer Count Vronsky. Keira Knightley stars in the leading role as Karenina. This is her third collaboration with director Joe Wright following ''Pride & Prejudice'' (2005) and ''Atonement'' (2007). Joseph Wright (born 25 August 1972) is an English film director residing in Somerset, England. His motion pictures include the literary adaptations '' Pride & Prejudice'' (2005), ''Atonement'' (2007), ''Anna Karenina'' (2012), and ''Cyrano'' (2021), the action thriller '' Hanna'' (2011), Peter Pan origin story '' Pan'' (2015), and '' Darkest Hour'' (2017), a political drama following Winston Churchill during World War II nominated for Best Picture. Dario Marianelli (born 21 June 1963) is an Italian composer known for his frequent collaborations with director Joe Wright. Early life, education Marianelli was born in Pisa, Italy. He came from a musically inclined family and learned the piano at an early age. He studied piano and composition in Florence and London. After a year as a postgraduate composer at the Guildhall School of Music, he took up a three-year postgraduate program at the National Film and Television School in London, from which he graduated in 1997.
