Anna Hakobyan
Anna Vachiki Hakobyan ( hy, Աննա Վաչիկի Հակոբյան; born February 1, 1978), is the wife of the current Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Vovayi Pashinyan. She is the editor-in-chief of the ''Haykakan Zhamanak'' (''Armenian Times'') newspaper. Unofficially, Hakobyan is regarded as the "First Lady of Armenia", a position that is reserved for the spouses of the President of Armenia. Education and career Anna Hakobyan was born on February 1, 1978 in the Armenian SSR. She graduated from the Yerevan State University. After she graduated, she began working as a journalist in Armenia. She is currently the editor-in-chief of the largest newspaper in Armenia, ''Haykakan Zhamanak''. 2018 Velvet Revolution Hakobyan played an active role in the 2018 Armenian revolution, which were a series of anti-government peaceful mass protests in response to the past president's third consecutive term. Nikol Pashinyan
Nikol Vovayi Pashinyan ( hy, Նիկոլ Վովայի Փաշինյան, ; born 1 June 1975) is an Armenian politician serving as the prime minister of Armenia since 8 May 2018. A journalist by profession, Pashinyan founded his own newspaper in 1998, which was shut down a year later for libel. He was sentenced for one year for defamation against then Minister of National Security Serzh Sargsyan. He edited the newspaper ''Haykakan Zhamanak'' ("Armenian Times") from 1999 to 2012. A supporter of Armenia's first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, he was highly critical of second president Robert Kocharyan, Defense Minister Serzh Sargsyan, and their allies, frequently referring to them as the "Karabakh Clan". Pashinyan was also critical of Armenia's close relations with Russia, and promoted establishing closer relations with Turkey instead. The Armed Forces of Armenia ( hy, Հայաստանի զինված ուժեր, Hayastani zinvats uzher), sometimes referred to as the Armenian Army ( hy, Հայկական Բանակ, Haykakan Banak), is the national military of Armenia. The Erato Detachment () is a military unit of the Armenian Ground Forces. It is the first all-women military unit in the Armenian Armed Forces. It was created after clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan occurred in July 2020 Armenian–Azerbaijani clashes, July 2020, and it operated primarily during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.
