Anna Gabriel I Sabaté
Anna Gabriel i Sabaté (born 1975) is a Catalan social pedagogue, adjunct professor in law and politician from Spain. She was a member of Catalan Parliament between 2015 and 2017, representing the radical left pro-Catalan independence political party, Popular Unity Candidacy. Since February 2018, she has been in exile in Geneva, Switzerland. Early life Gabriel was born in 1975 in Sallent de Llobregat, a working-class town located 70 kms north of Barcelona, to a mining and trade union family originating in Southern Spain. Gabriel worked as a street educator before studying law and taking up a part-time teaching position at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she taught history of law. The Parliament of Catalonia ( ca, Parlament de Catalunya, ; es, Parlamento de Cataluña; oc, Parlament de Catalonha) is the unicameral legislature of the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. 2017 Catalan Independence Referendum
An independence referendum was held on 1 October 2017 in the Autonomous communities of Spain, Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, passed by the Parliament of Catalonia as the Law on the Referendum on Self-determination of Catalonia and called by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The referendum, known in the Spanish media by the numeronym 1-O (for "1 October"), was declared unconstitutional on 7 September 2017 and suspended by the Constitutional Court of Spain after a request from the Spanish government, who declared it a breach of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, Spanish Constitution. August Gil i Matamala (born in Barcelona on September 19, 1934) is a Catalan lawyer specializing in human rights. Biography Married to Isabel Giner i San Julián and father of actor Ariadna Gil i Giner. He has had a long and prestigious career in the field of defence of human rights. He set up the first university branch of the PSUC (Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia) in 1956 while studying for a law degree at the University of Barcelona. 2015 Catalan Regional Election
The 2015 Catalan regional election was held on Sunday, 27 September 2015, electing the 11th Parliament of the autonomous community of Catalonia. All 135 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The 2004 European Parliament election in Spain was held on Sunday, 13 June 2004, as part of the EU-wide election to elect the 6th European Parliament. The General Confederation of Labor (Spanish: ''Confederación General del Trabajo'', CGT) is a Spanish trade union federation. The CGT was a result of a split in the anarchist National Confederation of Labor (CNT). In 1979, at the first CNT congress after Spain's transition to democracy, there was a fundamental disagreement concerning union elections. Such elections allow Spanish workers to elect union delegates to factory committees every four years. Some deemed this a renewal of anarcho-syndicalism, but the more orthodox in the organization considered such elections a "government intervention in labor–capital relations".
