Anna Ivanovna Bogaliy () (born 12 June 1979) is a retired Russian biathlete. She is 167 cm tall and weighs 58 kg. Biography She was born in Vozhega, Vologda Oblast, on 12 June 1979. When she was 5, her family moved to Murmansk, where she started biathlon. She has had eleven podium finishes, three in first place, four in second, and has come third four times. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Bogaliy won gold on the 4 × 6 km relay. At the World Championships, she won three gold medals in relays, including a recent title in mixed relay in Holmenkollen Holmenkollen () is a mountain and a neighbourhood in the Vestre Aker borough of Oslo, Norway. Vozhega
Vozhega () is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Vozhegodsky District of Vologda Oblast, Russia. It also serves as the administrative center of Vozhegodsky Selsoviet, although it is not part of it. Municipally, it is incorporated as Vozhegodskoye Urban Settlement, the only urban settlement in the district. Vozhega is located several kilometers off the course of the Vozhega River, on the right bank of the river. Population: History The area was sparsely populated until the end of 19th century, since it was far from all trade routes connecting Northern Russia with the White Sea. In 1894, the construction of the railway line between Vologda and Arkhangelsk started. The 44th Biathlon World Championships was held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from March 3–13, 2011. There was a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay races for men and women, and mixed relay. All the events during this championships also counted for the 2010–11 Biathlon World Cup season. Championship highlights The Championships kicked off with the Mixed relay event which is seeking to make its way onto the Olympic programme for the 2014 Winter Olympics, 2014 games in Sochi. As the first event of the programme, it was finally given importance by the different teams, with all nations fielding their best teams, in difference to earlier world cup events. Biathlon at the 2002 Winter Olympics consisted of eight biathlon events. They were held at Soldier Hollow. The events began on 11 February and ended on 20 February 2002. For the first time since 1992, the biathlon program expanded. A new race type, the pursuit (for both men and women) was added, the first new race type since the debut of the sprint in 1980. Medal summary Seven nations won medals in biathlon, with Germany winning the most (3 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze), while Norway led the medal table with 4 gold medals.
