Ann Probert
Ann Linen Probert (born December 31, 1938) is an American amateur golfer from New Jersey. Probert has competed in 10 Senior Women's international events and notched 16 holes-in-one during her career. She is a recipient of the United States Golf Association's (USGA) Ike Grainger Award, which recognizes distinguished service to the association over 25 years. (Grainger was a president of the USGA.) Early life and education Probert grew up in West Orange, New Jersey near the 18th hole of the Rock Springs Country Club. She graduated from the Beard School (now the Morristown-Beard School) in Orange, New Jersey in 1956. Probert then earned her bachelor's degree at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1960. Curtis Cup
The Curtis Cup is the best known team trophy for women amateur golfers, awarded in the biennial Curtis Cup Match. It is co-organised by the United States Golf Association and The R&A and is contested by teams representing the United States and "Great Britain and Ireland". The same two teams originally contested the Ryder Cup, but unlike that competition, the Curtis Cup has not widened the Great Britain and Ireland team to include all Europeans (nor has the analogous event for amateur men, the Walker Cup). Many women who have gone on to become stars of women's professional golf have played in the Curtis Cup. United States Senior Women's Amateur Golf Championship
The United States Senior Women's Amateur Golf Championship was launched in 1962 as an annual tournament for female amateur golfing competitors at least 50 years of age. The format began as a 54-hole stroke play competition over three days until 1997 when it was changed to a match play event. Sectional qualifying was first implemented for the 2000 championship. The U.S. Senior Women's Amateur operates through the auspices of the United States Golf Association. In 1977 Dorothy Germain Porter became the first U.S. Women's Amateur champion to win the Seniors' title. Starting in 2018, the reigning champion and runner-up, and the preceding year's champion, will be eligible to participate in the U.S. Senior Women's Open. United States Girls' Junior Golf Championship
The United States Girls' Junior Championship is one of the thirteen U.S. national golf championships organized by the United States Golf Association. It is open to amateur girls who are under 19 on the last day of the competition and have a USGA handicap index of 9.4 or less. It consists of two days of stroke play, with the leading 64 competitors then playing a match play competition to decide the champion. The inaugural championship was held in 1949 and was won by Marlene Bauer from a field of 28 entries. Aree Wongluekiet, now Aree Song, is the youngest winner at 13 years, 99 days in 1999. Hollis Stacy is the only three-time winner of the tournament.
