Anke Borchmann
Anke Borchmann ( Grünberg; born 23 June 1954) is a rower who competed for East Germany in the 1970s. Early life Grünberg was born in Neukalen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, East Germany in 1954. Rowing career Grünberg competed for SC Dynamo Berlin. Under her maiden name, she came third at the 1971 East German national championships in quad scull. At the 1973 East German national championships she came second in the same boat class. At the 1974 East German national championships she won the quad scull title, came second in the single scull (beaten by Christine Scheiblich), and came third in the double scull alongside Sabine Jahn. She travelled to the 1974 World Rowing Championships as a reserve but did not compete. At the 1975 East German national championships she defended her quad scull title. Neukalen
Neukalen is a town in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated 19 km southwest of Demmin. History (Old) Kalen was first mentioned in a document of 1174. After 1236, Kalen, now called Altkalen, was located on the trade route from Stettin (now ''Szczecin'') to Rostock and it expanded as a city with a strong fortification. The city got lands and in 1253 it was granted the ''Lübeck law''. In 1281 the city was moved for unknown reasons to Gnoien and so Neukalen was newly founded in 1281. ''Neues Deutschland'' (''nd''; en, New Germany, sometimes stylized in lowercase letters) is a left-wing German daily newspaper, headquartered in Berlin. For 43 years it was the official party newspaper of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED), which governed East Germany (officially known as the German Democratic Republic), and as such served as one of the party's most important organs. Petra Boesler
Petra Boesler (later Wach, born 19 September 1955) is a German rower who competed for East Germany in the 1976 Summer Olympics. She was born in Berlin. She is the sister of Martina Boesler, who is also an Olympic rower. Their aunt, Renate Boesler, won several medals at European Rowing Championships. Her aunt got her interested in rowing by taking her to regattas. Gisela Medefindt (later Bodis; born 16 March 1957) is a German rower. At the 1978 East German national championships, she competed in single scull and came second. Rotsee
__NOTOC__ The Rotsee (previously known as Rootsee) is a natural rowing lake on the northern edge of Lucerne, Switzerland. It is regarded as one of the best rowing venues in the world. Description and location The lake and its surrounding area is used for local recreation. All of the lake frontage is a protected area. The lake formed through glacial processes and it is thought that the river Reuss flowed through this valley in between ice ages. There is no notable inflow and virtually no current. Nearby hills protect the lake from wind. It is long. These factors make it an ideal rowing venue and German-speaking rower refer to it as ''Göttersee'', which translates as "lake of the gods". Grünau () is a German locality (''Ortsteil'') within the Berlin borough (''Bezirk'') of Treptow-Köpenick. Until 2001 it was part of the former borough of Köpenick.
