Hu Prefecture
Huzhou or Hu Prefecture (湖州) was a ''Zhou (country subdivision), zhou'' (prefecture) in history of China, imperial China, centering on modern Huzhou, Zhejiang, China. It existed (intermittently) from 602 until 1912. Between 1225 and 1276 it was known as Anji Prefecture (安吉州). The modern prefecture-level city, created in 1983, retains its name. Geography The administrative region of Hu Prefecture in the Tang dynasty is under the administration of modern Huzhou in northern Zhejiang. Anji County
() is a county in the prefecture-level city of Huzhou in northwestern Zhejiang province, China. The county spans an area of , with a population of 461,800 as of the end of 2013. Located within the Yangtze River Delta, Anji County is a short distance from Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. Anji County is known for its lush natural environment, with over 70% of the county's area covered in forest and other vegetation. In particular, Anji County is known for its bamboo production. The county has of bamboo groves containing over 40 different species of bamboo. The county is home to the Tianhuangping Pumped Storage Power Station. Anji Bridge
The Anji Bridge () is the world's oldest open-spandrel segmental arch bridge of stone construction.This title strictly applies only to the ''sum of attributes given'' (O’Connor, Colin: ''Roman Bridges'', Cambridge University Press 1993, , p.171): Various Roman stone pillar bridges featured wooden open-spandrel segmental arches as early as the 2nd century CE, among them Trajan's bridge, the longest bridge of the world to have been built for over a thousand years. Also, a dozen or more Roman close-spandrel stone segmental arch bridges are known from the 1st century BC onwards, such as the Ponte San Lorenzo (Padua), Alconétar Bridge and the Makestos Bridge (Turkey), the last having half-open spandrels. The 27 segmental arches of the Bridge at Limyra (300 ce) feature span to rise ratios between 5.3 and 6.5 to 1, making it an earlier example of a stone quarter circle segmental arch bridge. Balasore
Balasore or Baleswara is a city in the state of Odisha, about north of the state capital Bhubaneswar and from Kolkata, in eastern India. It is the largest town of northern Odisha and the administrative headquarters of Balasore district. It is best known for Chandipur beach. It is also called 'missile city'. The Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Programme's Integrated Test Range is located 18 km south of Balasore. History Excavation at villages nearby by Balasore has given evidence for three distinct cultural phases of human settlements, viz., Chalcolithic (2000-1000 BCE), Iron Age (1000-400 BCE) and early historic period (400-200 BCE).
