Anjali (1990 Film)
''Anjali'' is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language children's drama film written and directed by Mani Ratnam. It stars Raghuvaran and Revathi, with Tarun, Shruti and Shamili in supporting roles. The film deals with the story of a dying mentally disabled child, and the emotional trauma experienced by her family. ''Anjali'' was released on 12 July 1990 and was critically acclaimed, winning three National Film Awards, and was also featured at the 14th IFFI' 91 ''Indian Panorama'' section. Anjali was chosen as India's official entry to the Oscars in 1991, but was not nominated. The film was remade in Sinhala in 2013 as '' Doni''. Mani Ratnam
Gopala Ratnam Subramaniam (born 2 June 1956), known professionally as Mani Ratnam, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema and few Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. ''Doni'' ( si, දෝණි) is a 2013 Sri Lankan Sinhala children's and family drama film directed by V. Sivadasan and produced by Sunil T. Fernando for Sunil T. Films. Thyagu (born 5 February 1958) is an Indian actor and comedian who appears in Tamil films. He is the grandson of violinist Kumbakonam Rajamanickam Pillai. Ananthu was an Indian screenwriter working on Tamil language films, often collaborating with K. Balachander. He was the mentor of actor Kamal Haasan.
