Animal Superheroes
This list consists of notable animal characters that can walk, talk, act and sometimes look like humans, but also possess traits that allow them to be referred to as superheroes. These characters are usually changed from a non-human animal into human form or came from another planet to Earth. Some of the characters live on Earth, but its population comprises other anthropomorphic animals as well. Many of these characters were originally seen in cartoons and comics such as ''Mighty Mouse'' and ''Underdog''. Today, talking animals can also be found in central roles in video games. Superhero
A superhero or superheroine is a stock character that typically possesses ''superpowers'', abilities beyond those of ordinary people, and fits the role of the hero, typically using his or her powers to help the world become a better place, or dedicating themselves to protecting the public and fighting crime. Superhero fiction is the genre of fiction that is centered on such characters, especially, since the 1930s, in American comic books (and later in Hollywood films, film serials, television and video games), as well as in Japanese media (including kamishibai, tokusatsu, manga, anime and video games). Superheroes come from a wide array of different backgrounds and origins. Astro And The Space Mutts
''Space Stars'' is a 60-minute Saturday morning animated program block produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on NBC from September 12, 1981, to January 8, 1982. ''Space Stars'' was narrated by Keene Curtis and featured five cartoon segments each week: * ''Space Ghost'' (2 segments, 6 minutes each) * ''The Herculoids'' (1 segment, 10 minutes) * ''Teen Force'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) * ''Astro and the Space Mutts'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) * ''Space Stars Finale'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) The cartoons would occasionally cross over into one another. Beasts Of Burden
A working animal is an animal, usually domesticated, that is kept by humans and trained to perform tasks instead of being slaughtered to harvest animal products. Some are used for their physical strength (e.g. oxen and draft horses) or for transportation (e.g. riding horses and camels), while others are service animals trained to execute certain specialized tasks (e.g. hunting and guide dogs, messenger pigeons and fishing cormorants). They may also be used for milking or herding. Some, at the end of their working lives, may also be used for meat or other products such as leather. Battle Cat
Cringer is a fictional large cat in the ''Masters of the Universe'' franchise. He has green and orange striped fur, similar to that of a tiger (although his species is not truly known), and is Prince Adam’s feline companion. Whenever Adam transforms into He-Man, he uses his Power Sword to transform Cringer into the much larger and mightier Battle Cat to serve primarily as his riding mount. ''He-Man and the Masters of the Universe'' (1983-1985) Cringer, despite being a large cat, displays characteristics more consistent with a domestic house cat. He sleeps most of the day, overeats, and gets scared very easily. He can talk, although no reason is ever given for this ability. He has the appearance of a green and yellow-striped tiger. In the episode "Teela's Quest", Queen Marlena says to Adam in regards to the planet Earth, "There are no talking green tigers on Earth." Battle Beasts
is a line of small 2" tall action figure toys, in the form of an anthropomorphised animals with body armor and a unique weapon. Several figures have their left hand replaced by a weapon of some kind. Battle Beasts were created and largely produced by Takara and distributed by Takara in Japan (under the name BeastFormers) and by Hasbro outside Japan, beginning in 1987. History Battle Beasts were created by Takara of Japan in 1986. Tomy Co., Ltd., aka ''K.K. Takara-Tomy'', still owns the worldwide rights to the property. The heyday for the toyline came during the period in which it was licensed to Hasbro for distribution outside Japan when Hasbro marketed the toys in America and many other parts of the world. Although in the Japanese market Takara branded the toys as a spin-off of Transformers and even named the toys "BeastFormers", their tie-in to the Transformers universe was not part of the Hasbro story or marketing.
