Bandeirante
The ''Bandeirantes'' (), literally "flag-carriers", were slavers, explorers, adventurers, and fortune hunters in early Colonial Brazil. They are largely responsible for Brazil's great expansion westward, far beyond the Tordesillas Line of 1494, by which Pope Alexander VI divided the new continent into a western, Castilian section, and an eastern, Portuguese section. The ''bandeirantes'' were also known as Paulistas and Mamelucos. They mostly hailed from the São Paulo region, called the Captaincy of São Vicente until 1709 and then as the Captaincy of São Paulo. The São Paulo settlement served as the home base for the most famous ''bandeirantes.'' Anhanguera, Goiás
Anhanguera () is a municipality in south Goiás state, Brazil. In 2020 the population was 1,190 and the total area of the municipality was 57.0 km2, making it the smallest municipality in the state of Goiás and the smallest in all Central-West Brazil, both in population and area. Geography Anhanguera is part of the Catalão Microregion and is located close to the Paranaíba River, which forms the boundary between the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais.
