Angèle Hug
Angèle Hug (born 30 July 2000) is a French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2017. She competes in the C1 and K1 events, having competed in C2 Mixed with Théo Roisin in 2017. She is from Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux in the Ardèche department of France. Career At the 2021 European Championships in Ivrea, she won a bronze medal in the C1 team event, placing 16th individually. Hug finished 4th in the mixed C2 event at the 2017 World Championships in Pau. She finished 2nd in domestic selections for the C1 event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming Olympic substitute and securing a sport on the World Cup team. At her first World Cup in Pau, Hug placed 8th after qualifying third fastest into the final. She finished 5th in the 2021 World Cup standings for C1, making two finals. Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux
Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux (, literally ''Les Ollières on Eyrieux''; oc, Las Olièras) is a commune in the Ardèche department in southern France. The nearest towns are Privas and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut. History The first records of a settlement can be dated back to the 12th century. Situated on the banks of the river Eyrieux (a tributary to the Rhône), Les Ollières (as it is often shortened to by the local people) became a central location for the treatment and processing of silk in the early 18th century. It was the 20th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 7th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 22 medal events took place, 11 in each of the two age categories. Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium
Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium (french: Stade d'eaux-vives Pau-Pyrénées) is the home training facility for the French national canoe slalom team. It was first used to train the French team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It 2009, it was the first of three venues used in the canoe slalom World Cup. It is also a whitewater park for recreational use by the general public. History and Design The town of Pau has long been a center of activity for French canoe slalom. The natural rapids in the center of town are still equipped with hanging slalom gates. Augsburg Eiskanal
The ''Augsburg Eiskanal'' is an artificial whitewater river in Augsburg, Germany, constructed as the canoe slalom venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics in nearby Munich. The first artificial whitewater course of its kind, it introduced the sport of canoe slalom (using decked canoes and kayaks) to the Olympic Games. However, because of the expense of building artificial rivers and supplying them with water, canoe slalom was missing from the next four Summer Olympics. It returned with the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and has been featured in every Summer Olympics since then. The Eiskanal has thus served as the prototype for six Olympic whitewater venues, from 1992 through 2012, and for more than fifty training and competition facilities in eighteen countries (see list). 2023 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 2023 Canoe Slalom World Cup was the highest level season-long series of competitions across six canoe slalom disciplines organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 36th edition and featured five stops (or races) in five different venues. Canoeists competed for the title of the overall world cup champion in each of the six disciplines (3 for men and 3 for women), which was determined by the total number of points obtained from the five races. Calendar The series opened with World Cup Race 1 in Augsburg, Germany (1–4 June) and concluded with the World Cup Final in Vaires-sur-Marne, France (5-8 October).
