Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize For First Comic Book
The ''Prix Révélation'' (Prize of Revelation or Debut Prize) is one of the prizes awarded by the Angoulême International Comics Festival. This prize honors cartoonists who are early in their career. Some version of the prize has been awarded almost every year since the first festival in 1974. At first it was called the Prize of Best Hope (''prix du meilleur espoir''), then in 1985 it was reborn as the Prize for Best First Album (''prix du meilleur premier album''). In 1989, as the whole award ceremony was renamed after Hergé's unfinished book ''Alph-Art'', this prize became the Alph-Art coup de cœur and was awarded to authors with up to three published works. Angoulême International Comics Festival
The Angoulême International Comics Festival (french: Festival international de la bande dessinée d'Angoulême) is the second largest comics festival in Europe after the Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, and the third biggest in the world after Lucca Comics & Games and the Comiket of Japan. It has occurred every year since 1974 in Angoulême, France, in January. Dupuy And Berberian
Philippe Dupuy (born 12 December 1960, Sainte-Adresse) and Charles Berbérian (born 28 May 1959, Baghdad) are French cartoonists most famous for their series of Franco-Belgian comics albums featuring the character ''Monsieur Jean''. Their collaboration is notable as they share every aspect of creating their stories, from plot through layouts, pencils and inks, to the extent that it is impossible to detect who is responsible for what. But in 2003, they decided to again work on their own, and have since published solo material like ''Hanté'' by Dupuy in 2005. Ego comme x was the name of a French comics publishing house created in Angoulême in 1994. Fabrice Neaud
Fabrice Neaud (born December 17, 1968, in La Rochelle) is a French comics artist. He got his baccalaureate in literature (option graphic arts) in 1986. He studied philosophy during two years. Then he entered an art school and studied there four years. In 1991 he quit the school. For four years he had been looking for a job, making a living on various works. He is a co-founder of the Ego comme X association. In 1994, the first number of the ''Ego comme X'' magazine was released. In it, Fabrice Neaud published his first works. It was the beginning of his Journal (which is a diary in comics), an ambitious autobiographical project. The first volume of the Journal was released in 1996. It got a prize Alph'art (best work by a young artist) in Angoulême in 1997. Fabrice Neaud keeps on drawing his Journal. Three more volumes have been published between 1998 and 2002. Lewis Trondheim (born Laurent Chabosy, , on 11 December 1964), is a French cartoonist and one of the founders (in 1990) of the independent publisher L'Association. Both his silent comic ''La Mouche'' and Kaput and Zösky have been made into animated cartoons. He explained his choice of pseudonym after the Norwegian city of Trondheim as follows: "As a last name I wanted to use a city's name, but Lewis Bordeaux or Lewis Toulouse didn't sound so good. Éditions Dupuis S.A. () is a Belgium, Belgian publisher of comic albums and magazines. Based in Marcinelle near Charleroi, Dupuis was founded in 1922 by Jean Dupuis, and is mostly famous for its comic comics album, albums and magazines. Jean-Philippe Stassen (born 14 March 1966 in Liège, Belgium) is a Belgian comics creator best known for '' Deogratias: A Tale of Rwanda''. Biography Born in Liège to a Flemish father and a Jewish mother, Jean-Philippe Stassen started travelling at a young age. He travelled through Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda. His experiences have been an influence throughout his work. He was introduced to the magazine ''L'Écho des Savanes'' when he was 17 years old.
