Angola Women's National Handball Team
The Angola women's national handball team, nicknamed As Pérolas (''The Pearls''), represents Angola in international handball competitions. History Angola became a member of the African Handball Confederation in 1980. Summer Olympics Angola participated in six editions of the olympic games since 1996, namely in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016, having ranked 7th in 1996. World Championship Angola participated in 14 editions of the world cup since 1990, namely in 1990, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. It has notably ranked 7th in 2007 and 8th in 2011. The 2012 African Women's Handball Championship was the 20th edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, organized by the African Handball Confederation. It was the 20th edition of the tournament and was held in Salé, Morocco between 11 and 20 January 2012. The winner qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics. IHF World Women's Handball Championship
The IHF Women's Handball World Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each. Nine teams participated in the first championship, this number has grown in steps to 32 (from 2021). In 1977 a B-tournament was introduced and later in 1986 a C-tournament which served as qualification for the real championship or A-tournament. The B- and C-tournament qualifications were replaced by the present qualification system based on continental confederations in 1993. From 1993 it has been held every other year. Handball At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's handball tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 28 July to 11 August. The preliminaries and quarter-finals were held at the Copper Box and the semi-finals and final took place at the Basketball Arena. Twelve nations were represented in the tournament. The four best teams from each group advanced to a knockout round, while the 5th and 6th teams in each group were classified 9th–12th by the results of their group matches. Unlike in previous Olympics, there was no placement matches involving the losing teams of the quarterfinals. Norway won the tournament and gold medal, beating Montenegro in the final. Montenegro's silver was the first Olympic medal for the country as an independent nation, and the country's only medal at the 2012 Games. Spain won the bronze medal. The women's handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics is being held from August 9 to August 23, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the women's tournament. The four best teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal round, 5th and 6th teams in each group are classified 9th-12th by the results of their group matches. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The 2022 African Women's Handball Championship was the 25th edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, which took place from 9 to 19 November 2022, in Dakar, Senegal.
