The Angola Press News Agency or Angola Press Agency (ANGOP; pt, Agência Angola Press) is the official news agency of Angola, based in Luanda. Founded in 1975, it was a former close ally of the now-defunct TASS of the Soviet Union. It is part of the . History ANGOP was founded in April 1975 under the name ''Agência Nacional Angola Press'' (ANAP) and later renamed ''Agência Angola Press'' when Angola gained independence, by order dated October 30, 1975, promulgated by then president Agostinho Neto and enjoyed autonomy and editorial independence under Presidential Decree No. 9/75 of 15 September 1975. By Presidential Decree No. 11/78 published on Feb. 3, 1978, ANGOP became a state communication organ. The agency has continued to grow from that date. AGERPRES () is the national news agency of Romania. History The National News Agency "AGERPRES" is the oldest Romanian news agency and the first autonomous agency in Romania. It was established in March 1889 at the initiative of Foreign Minister Petre P. Carp, as the Telegraph Agency of Romania or Romanian Agency with serving as a "fast and accurate service of all general or special interest news". The Telegraph Agency of Romania was suspended from the end of 1916 until the end of World War I. On June 16, 1921, it established the agency Orient-Radio, "caring only for the general interest and that of its subscribers." MTI (''Magyar Távirati Iroda'', literally "Hungarian Telegraphic Office") is a Hungarian news agency. One of the oldest news agencies in the world, it was founded in 1880. MTI was owned by MTI Rt., founded by the Parliament. The members of the Owners' Advisory Body are elected by the National Assembly of Hungary on four-year terms. It's a marketleader, and is considered by some sources to be a 'balanced and reliable source'. Still, it finds it difficult to raise subscriptions as most major Hungarian newspapers are foreign-owned. It must turn to the government for capital to overcome its technology deficit. The Czech News Agency ( cs, Česká tisková kancelář), abbreviated to ČTK, is a national public service news agency in the Czech Republic. It publishes in Czech and English. It discontinued its Slovak language service on 1 January 2011. Founded on 28 October 1918, on the same day as Czechoslovakia's formation, the company has been owned by the government and used by the various regimes in the Czech lands since then. Following the Velvet Revolution of 1989, the government ceased interfering in editorial decisions. In 1993 the government relinquished control of the agency, which has since been governed by a board of seven people elected by the lower house of Parliament. Members of the board are not allowed to be politically active. The agency's state subsidy was discontinued in 1996. The Allgemeiner Deutscher Nachrichtendienst (ADN), German for ''General German News Service'', was the state news agency in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). It supplied news content to GDR newspapers and news broadcasters. History The ADN was established in October 1946 as a GmbH (limited liability company) with the support of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany. In 1953, the GDR's ruling Socialist Unity Party (SED) ordered ADN GmbH dissolved and converted into a government agency with a monopoly on national and international news coverage. Although the ADN was officially subordinate to the Council of Ministers, the SED maintained a careful watch over it as the most important means of disseminating news to the public.
