Anglim Trimble Gallery
Anglim Trimble Gallery, formerly Gallery Paule Anglim, and Anglim Gilbert Gallery, is a contemporary commercial art gallery which is located at Minnesota Street Project, 1275 Minnesota Street, San Francisco, California The gallery was founded by Paule Anglim (1923 –2015) in the early 1970s. The gallery specializes in exhibiting works from West Coast art movements. Following Anglim's passing in the spring of 2015, the gallery was re-opened under the lead of her long-term director, Ed Gilbert, and renamed Anglim Gilbert Gallery. After the death of Gilbert in 2020, it was subsequently renamed Anglim Trimble Gallery under the directorship of Shannon Trimble. The gallery has been located at the Minnesota Street Project since spring of 2016. Minnesota Street Project
Minnesota Street Project (MSP), is a dual for-profit/foundation model art space founded in 2016 in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, California; and features 13 art galleries, an event space, and a restaurant. History Minnesota Street Project was founded in 2016 by venture capitalist Andy Rappaport, and Deborah Rappaport. The Minnesota Street Project Foundation (founded in 2019), and the California Black Voices Project and Grants for Arts Equity (founded in 2021), are two grant programs born from this project, created to “begin addressing the systemic racism in the art world”. Minnesota Street Project is a three building complex, with 35,000 square feet of gallery space; they also offer subsidized art studio space at 1240 Minnesota Street (just across the street). Carter (artist)
John Carter (born 1970) is an American multidisciplinary, conceptual artist and film director, using the professional name ''Carter'' for his artworks. He is based in New York City. About Carter was born in Norwich, Connecticut and studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1992. He then studied at the artists residency, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1994. Carter earned an M.F.A. degree in 1997 at University of California, Davis. Ann Hamilton (artist)
Ann Hamilton is a visual artist who emerged in the early 1980s known for her large-scale multimedia installations. After receiving her BFA in textile design from the University of Kansas in 1979, she lived in Banff, Alberta, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada before deciding to pursue an MFA in sculpture at Yale in 1983. From 1985 to 1991, she taught on the faculty of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Since 2001, Hamilton has served on the faculty of the Department of Art at the Ohio State University. Terry Fox (artist)
Terry Alan Fox (1943 – 14 October 2008) was an American Conceptual artist known for his work in performance art, video, and sound. He was of the first generation conceptual artists and he was a central participant in the West Coast performance art, video and Conceptual Art movements of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Fox was active in San Francisco and in Europe, living in Europe in the latter portion of his life. Biography Fox was in 1943 born in Seattle, Washington. At the age of seventeen in 1960, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease. His Hodgkin’s Disease was later referencing the cycles of illness and wellness in several artworks. Louise Fishman
Louise Fishman (January 14, 1939 – July 26, 2021) was an American abstract painter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For many years she lived and worked in New York City, where she died. Biography Louise Fishman was born in Philadelphia on January 14, 1939. She attended the Philadelphia College of Art between 1956 and 1957. In 1958 she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. After being successful at both schools she went on to receive her BFA and BS at the Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, and in 1965 she secured her MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Following her MFA, Fishman worked as a library assistant at Cooper from 1966 to 1968, and also served as an adjunct instructor at the college. Vincent Fecteau
Vincent Fecteau (born 1969) is a sculptor based in San Francisco. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1992. He is known for working with ordinary materials such as foamcore, seashells, string, rubber bands, paper clips, walnut shells, and popsicle sticks, and transforming them into beautifully precise handcrafted sculptures. Constructed of papier-mâché, Fecteau often works on several sculptures at a time, taking a year or longer to finish each work. He layers materials and textures, revealing a painstaking creative process that alters significantly the original spherical shapes. Ala Ebtekar (born 1978) is a contemporary artist who works between his native San Francisco Bay Area and Tehran, Iran. Nathaniel Dorsky (born 1943 in New York City), is an American experimental filmmaker and film editor who has been making films since 1963. He attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he developed his interest in filmmaking. He won an Emmy Award for the film ''Gauguin in Tahiti: Search for Paradise'' which was directed by Martin Carr in 1967. Jean Conner Sandstedt (born 1933) is an American artist. Biography Jean Conner was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and earned her BFA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, going on to earn her MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Conner was part of the "Rat Bastard Collective". She married Bruce Conner in 1957. They moved to San Francisco. Conner has five works in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
