Anglican Church Of Mozambique And Angola
The Anglican Church of Mozambique and Angola (IAMA)is the 42nd ecclesiastical province of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Established in 2021, is the newest province to have been erected. Previously the dioceses which constitute this new province were parts of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. The new province adopted its constitution and canons at a special synod, and was formally inaugurated on 24 September 2021, in an online teleconference including Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Josiah Idowu-Fearon, Secretary-General of the Anglican Consultative Council. Anglican Communion
The Anglican Communion is the third largest Christian communion after the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. Founded in 1867 in London, the communion has more than 85 million members within the Church of England and other autocephalous national and regional churches in full communion. The Anglican Church of Southern Africa, known until 2006 as the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, is the province (Anglican), province of the Anglican Communion in the southern part of Africa. The church has twenty-five dioceses, of which twenty-one are located in South Africa, and one each in Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Saint Helena. Justin Portal Welby (born 6 January 1956) is a British bishop who is the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury. He has served in that role since 2013. Welby was previously the vicar of Southam, Warwickshire, and then Bishop of Durham, serving for just over a year. Josiah Idowu-Fearon
Josiah Atkins Idowu-Fearon (born 17 January 1949) is a Nigerian Anglican bishop. Since 2015, he has been Secretary General of the Anglican Consultative Council. He was previously the Bishop of Kaduna diocese and the Archbishop of the Province of Kaduna in the Church of Nigeria. Early life Josiah Idowu-Fearon was born in Kerinye, Kogi Statem on 17 January 1949. Family Idowu-Fearon is married to Comfort Amina; they had two sons, Ibrahim and Dauda, and a daughter Ninma. Idowu-Fearon was consecrated as a bishop by Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye, Archbishop of Nigeria, to serve as the first Bishop of Sokoto (the ordinary of the Diocese of Sokoto), where he remained until 1998. Secretary-General Of The Anglican Consultative Council
The Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) is one of the four "Instruments of Communion" of the Anglican Communion. It was created by a resolution of the 1968 Lambeth Conference. The council, which includes Anglican bishops, other clergy, and laity, meets every two or three years in different parts of the world. The Anglican Consultative Council has a permanent secretariat (the Anglican Communion Office), based at Saint Andrew's House, London, which is responsible for organizing meetings of the "Instruments of Communion". Carlos Matsinhe
Carlos Simão Matsinhe (born October 2, 1954) is a Mozambican Anglican bishop. He is the 11th Anglican bishop of the Lebombo, Mozambique. The second Mozambican-born bishop of Lebombo, he is the symbolic head of the Anglican church in Mozambique. Matsinhe was formerly the dean of Maciene Cathedral, serving for over 15 years. Matsinhe's theology embraces the social tradition within Anglicanism and advocates an active participation of the church in education, health and environmental affairs. Early life and education Matsinhe was born in Homoine, Mozambique. He was educated in a nearby Roman Catholic missionary school and subsequently went to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception College in the city of Inhambane. André Soares (born 7 May 1956) is an Angolan Anglican bishop. He has been the first Anglican Bishop of Angola since 2003. He is married to Janete João and they have eight children, six sons and two daughters. Ecclesiastical career Soares was born in a village of Kinfinga, near Songo, and educated at the Pastoral Institute in Lukala, Zaire.
