Angie Stone
Angela Laverne Brown (born December 18, 1961) known professionally as Angie Stone, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. She rose to fame in the late 1970s as member of the hip hop trio The Sequence. In the early 1990s, she became a member of the R&B trio Vertical Hold. Stone would later release her solo debut '' Black Diamond'' (1999) on Arista Records, which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and spawned the single " No More Rain (In This Cloud)". After transitioning to J Records, she released her second album, ''Mahogany Soul'' (2001), which included the hit single " Wish I Didn't Miss You"; followed by the albums '' Stone Love'' (2004) and '' The Art of Love & War'' (2007), her first number-one album on the US ''Billboard'' Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. J Records
J Records was an American record label owned and operated by Bertelsmann Music Group until it was transferred to Sony Music Entertainment when they acquired all of BMG’s record labels in late 2008. It was distributed through the RCA Music Group. The label was founded in 2000 by Clive Davis and was dissolved into RCA Records in 2011. Company history J Records was founded in 2000 by industry veteran Clive Davis with $150 million in financing from BMG, after his ousting from Arista Records the same year, and initially operated as an independently managed company distributed through BMG. Olivia was the first artist to sign to J Records but was later dropped due to poor album sales. School Gyrls
The School Gyrls (briefly known as Forever) were an American girl group formed in 2008. They were signed to Nick Cannon's NCredible Entertainment. The group starred in an eponymous movie that premiered on Nickelodeon on February 21, 2010. The group's self-titled debut album was released on March 23, 2010. The album peaked at number 118 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, and was preceded by the singles " Something Like a Party" and "Get Like Me". After the commercial success of their film and their single "Something Like A Party", the group released another movie called " A Very School Gyrls Holla-Day", which was followed with a second studio album of the same name. Shortly after this, two of the group's original members Mandy Rain and Jacque Pyles, decided to leave to pursue respective solo careers. They were replaced by Brittany Oaks and Natalie Aguero.
