Angelo Marotta
Angelo Marotta is an American politician who served as a member of the Medford, Massachusetts, city council and the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Early life Marotta was born on October 16, 1937, in Boston. He attended Medford High School, Mercersburg Academy, and Seton Hall University. Political career Marotta began his political career as a member of the Medford city council from 1972 to 1973 he also served as the city's mayor, which also gave him a seat on the Medford school committee. From 1975 to 1989, Marotta was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. In 1984, Marotta served as the assistant majority leader. Business career While serving the House, Marotta worked in real estate and was described as "the most successful condominium developer in edford. Mercersburg is a borough in Franklin County, located near the southern border of Pennsylvania, United States. The borough is southwest of Harrisburg, the state capital. Due to its location in a rural area, it had a relatively large percentage of African-American workers who had been enslaved from the Revolution. It was called "Black Town" in the early nineteenth century before incorporation under its current name. Refugee African Americans escaping from slavery in the South also settled here, and the area was known as "Little Africa". History Mercersburg was platted in 1780. John Silber
John Robert Silber (August 15, 1926 – September 27, 2012) was an American academician and candidate for public office. From 1971 to 1996, he was President of Boston University (BU) and, from 1996 to 2002, Chancellor. From 2002 to 2003, he again served as President (Ad Interim); and, from 2003 until his death, he held the title of President Emeritus. In 1990, he won the Democratic gubernatorial primary to become one of two major-party candidates for governor of Massachusetts in the general election of 1990. He lost that election to the Republican William Weld, who won by 38,000 votes. After receiving his PhD from Yale, Silber became professor of philosophy and served as dean of the University of Texas's College of Arts and Sciences (1967–70). He had a liberal reputation in his days at Texas, though at Boston University he was best known as a conservative spokesman in academia.
