Angelina María Esther Abbona (born 8 November 1951) is an Argentine jurist who served as the country's from 10 December 2011 to 10 December 2015, during the administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Biography Angelina Abbona was born in San Rafael on 8 November 1951, and spent her childhood and adolescence in the city of Mendoza. During the 1970s, she attended the National University of Córdoba. She was a member of the Marxist–Leninist Communist student group – part of the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR) – where she met the Cordoban student Carlos Zannini. She earned her law degree in 1976. The following year, together with her husband, Enrique "Mengueche" Mengarelli and other militants of his group, Abbona moved to Río Gallegos to escape from persecution by general Luciano Benjamín Menéndez under the country's civil-military dictatorship. San Rafael, Mendoza
San Rafael is a city in the southern region of the Mendoza Province, Argentina. With more than 118,000 inhabitants (), it is the largest city in and the seat of San Rafael Department. The city is located 240 km from the provincial capital and 990 km from the federal capital. Natural attractions in the area include the Diamante River, which flows through the city, the rapids-strewn Atuel River just south and Lake Los Reyunos, 20 km (12 mi) west of San Rafael. History Spanish expeditions led by Francisco de Villagra from what today is Chile first surveyed the area in 1551 and, finding a well-established agricultural Coquimbo and Diaguita cultures, they rapidly subdued the existing peoples and expropriated the land.
