Angela Harrison
Angela Harrison is an English greyhound trainer and winner of the 2019 British Trainers Championship. Career Prior to 1997, Harrison worked for Graham Calvert before joining the North View Kennels of Paul Rutherford, who was contracted to Newcastle Stadium (known as Brough Park at the time). Harrison then worked as Assistant Trainer to Jimmy Wright and was part of the team that won a number of major races and trained stars such as Droopys Buick, the 2016 Greyhound of the Year. In 2017, Harrison took over the trainers licence and Newcastle Stadium contract from Jimmy Wright and the pair run Alnwick greyhounds which is based at Greensfield Moor Farm in Northumberland. Since 2017, the kennel has won numerous events with the stand out performers being Droopys Verve who finished runner-up in the 2018 English Greyhound Derby and Droopys Expert who reached the 2019 English Greyhound Derby final. Three Steps To Victory
The Three Steps to Victory is a greyhound racing competition held annually at Owlerton Stadium in Sheffield. It was inaugurated in 2003 and is unique in the racing calendar because it consists of different race distances. In 2019, Gain Nutrition took over the sponsorship of the event. Owlerton Stadium
Owlerton Stadium, also known as Sheffield Stadium, is a purpose-built speedway track built in 1929 which also hosts greyhound racing The track is in Owlerton near Hillsborough in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Greyhound racing takes place on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings and every Monday and Thursday afternoon. There is a modern glass-fronted Panorama Restaurant accommodating up to 300 people, executive suites, fast food facilities and a number of bars. The stadium is also home to the Sheffield Tigers Speedway team and hosts BriSCA Formula One stock car racing events. Speedway takes place on a Thursday evening and the stadium has a total capacity for 4,000 spectators. It is operated by the A & S Leisure Group, the majority shareholder of which is Dave Allen. 2019 English Greyhound Derby
The 2019 Star Sports, ARC & LPS Greyhound Derby took place during May and June with the final being held on 29 June 2019 at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium. It was the first time that the event was held at Nottingham following the unexpected closure of Towcester Greyhound Stadium in 2018. The event was sponsored by Star Sports, ARC and LPS (Local Parking Security Services). The winner Priceless Blake won £100,000 and was trained by Paul Hennessy, owned by Bryan and Kathleen Murphy. 2018 English Greyhound Derby
The 2018 Star Sports Greyhound Derby took place during May and June with the final being held on 2 June 2018 at Towcester Greyhound Stadium. The winner Dorotas Wildcat won £175,000 and was trained by Kevin Hutton, owned by Hutton and Dave Usher and bred by Jim Gurney. It is the second time that the event was held at Towcester. Greyhound Of The Year Awards
The Greyhound of the Year Awards are the annual awards for the leading greyhounds in the United Kingdom. The British Greyhound Breeders & Owners Association inaugurated the Silver Greyhound Awards in 1951 and every year the winners were announced at the annual dinner and ball at the Dorchester Hotel. In 1970 the voting switched to the Greyhound Trainers & Breeders Association and the venue changed to the London Hilton on Park Lane. In 1982 the Greyhound Writers Association took over the voting and today the awards are now known as the Greyhound Board of Great Britain annual awards which are held at a different venue every year. Newcastle Stadium is a greyhound racing and former motorcycle speedway stadium, located on The Fossway, Byker, Newcastle. Racing at the stadium takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The circumference of the track is 415 metres. Until mid-2022, speedway racing took place from March to October. The Trainers' Championship currently rebranded as the Trainers' Judgement Night is a competition for the leading greyhound trainers in the United Kingdom. Essex Vase
The Essex Vase is a greyhound racing competition held annually at Romford Greyhound Stadium. It was inaugurated in 1939 and ran until 1949. It was decided to bring the race back in 1959. The 2017 version of the event was delayed and held in March 2018, the winner Murrys Act is officially listed as the 2017 winner. Mark Wallis has won the competition a record five times. All England Cup
The All England Cup is a greyhound racing competition held annually. It was inaugurated in 1938 at Brough Park later known as Newcastle. History was made during the 1946 running when four of the entries were the four nations Derby winners. The English Greyhound Derby winner Mondays News, the Irish Greyhound Derby champion Lilac Lady, Welsh Greyhound Derby winner Negro's Lad and Scottish Greyhound Derby champion Lattin Pearl all competed. The hope that all four would progress to the final failed to materialise but two of them Monday's News and Lattin Pearl did make the final and duly finished first and second.
