Angel De Jesús Sánchez
Angel de Jesús Sánchez (August 9, 1891 in Ciales, Puerto Rico – April 30, 1951) was a Puerto Rican jurist who served as the fifth chief justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico from 1948 till 1951. After graduating from the Central High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1910 went to Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York, to study the law. He started practicing as a lawyer in 1913. Was appointed municipal judge in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico in 1915. Served also as municipal judge in Coamo, Puerto Rico and San Juan, Puerto Rico. After a few years in private practice. He was appointed to the United States bankruptcy court where he spent twelve years. After serving as district judge in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Angel de Jesús Sánchez was nominated as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico in 1938 by president Harry S. Truman Harry S. Ciales, Puerto Rico
Ciales (, ) is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico, located on the Central Mountain Range, northwest of Orocovis; south of Florida and Manatí; east of Utuado and Jayuya; and west of Morovis. Ciales is spread over eight barrios and Ciales Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Toponym Sources diverge on the origin of the Ciales name. Nineteenth-century historian Cayetano Coll y Toste stated that it was named as such by then-governor Gonzalo de Aróstegui Herrera in honor of General Luis de Lacy, who had gone against Ferdinand VII's absolutist wishes. Coll y Toste suggested that the Villa Lacy name came from the anagram "es-la-cy" anagram. Martín Travieso
Martín Travieso, Jr. (July 6, 1882 – January 15, 1971) was a Puerto Rican politician, senator, lawyer, and judge. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1917 to 1921. He also served as Mayor of San Juan from 1921 to 1923. Biography Martín Travieso was born in 1882 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He received his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1903. In 1904, Travieso joined the Union Party in Puerto Rico, serving as member of the Executive Cabinet from 1908 to 1914. In 1917, he served as provisional governor. That same year, Travieso was elected to the first Senate of Puerto Rico. He served as senator for one term until 1921. After that, he served as Mayor of San Juan from 1921 to 1923. Travieso left the Union Party in 1931 and joined the Liberal Party of Puerto Rico. In 1936, he was appointed by President Franklin D. Luis Felipe Negrón Fernández (April 29, 1910 - December 1, 1986) was a Puerto Rican jurist who served as an asssociate justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and later as the ninth chief justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico from 1971 till 1972. He was born in Cataño, Puerto Rico on April 29, 1910. In 1934 he graduated in Law from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and soon after devoted himself to public service. He was head of the Legal Division of the State Insurance Fund (1935-38), District Attorney in Humacao (1938-40), Assistant Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico (1940-45) and Attorney General of Puerto Rico (1947-48). The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico ( es, Jefe del Tribunal Supremo de Puerto Rico) is the presiding officer of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
