Aneurin Jones
Aneurin M. Jones (1930 – 25 September 2017) was a Welsh painter. Life and work Jones was born in Cwm Wysg on the Brecknockshire/Carmarthenshire border to a farmer's family. He studied Fine Art at Swansea College of Art from 1950 to 1955. He then worked as a teacher at Ysgol y Preseli, Crymych (becoming Head of Art) until 1986. In 1978 Jones received a Rotary Award for outstanding service to Art. He exhibited regularly at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and won the main art prize there in 1981. Jones paintings often dwell on the old ways of life in the Wales countryside, sometimes making sketches at farm sales (where unwanted farm equipment ius sold off). He compared his life to that of a farmer, saying "An artist ploughs their own furrow; painting is very personal in terms of the pattern, the shape and the mood it creates." MOMA, Wales
MOMA Machynlleth or Museum of Modern Art, Machynlleth (Formerly MOMA Wales( cy, MOMA Cymru)) is an arts centre and gallery adjacent to (''The Tabernacle'') in Machynlleth, Powys, Wales. The Tabernacle was converted in the mid-1980s from a Wesleyan chapel into a centre for the performing arts. Since then the Museum of Modern Art has grown up alongside it, with six exhibition spaces. Background MOMA Machynlleth originated as MOMA Wales in 1986 as Y Tabernacl, a centre of performing arts in an old chapel, a private initiative by businessman Andrew Lambert. In 1994 this was expanded with a new complex of art galleries, a recording studio and a language laboratory. In 2016 it gained accreditation from the Museums, Archives and Libraries Division of the Welsh Government and changed its name to MOMA Machynlleth. Ceredigion Museum ( cy, Amgueddfa Ceredigion) is a museum in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. Location Ceredigion Museum is located at the Coliseum, Terrace Road, Aberystwyth. It is housed in a restored Edwardian theatre and is managed by Ceredigion County Council. History The museum was established in 1972 by the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Society who gave it to the newly formed Ceredigion District Council in 1974. Royal Welsh Show
The Royal Welsh Show ( cy, Sioe Frenhinol Cymru) is organised by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, which was formed in 1904. It takes place in July of each year, at Llanelwedd, near Builth Wells, in Powys, Mid Wales. The first show was held in Aberystwyth in 1904, and its success led to the development of the permanent showground at Llanelwedd, first used in 1963. No show was held in 1915–18, 1940–45 nor 2020–21. The latter years saw some events going virtual. Format The show lasts for four days and attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually, boosting tourism in Wales.
