Andøya Airport
Andøya Airport (; ) is a domestic airport in the village of Andenes in Andøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is situated on the northern tip of the island of Andøya. The airport is the civilian sector of Andøya Air Station and is operated by the state-owned Avinor. The airport consists of two runways, respectively long, of which only the former is now used, and served 48,254 passengers in 2012. Widerøe operates public service obligation (PSO) flights to Bodø (town), Bodø, Tromsø (city), Tromsø, Stokmarknes and Harstad (town), Harstad/Narvik (town), Narvik, while Norwegian Air Shuttle operates seasonal flights to Oslo. Construction of the air station started in 1952 to host the No. 333 Squadron RNoAF, 333 Squadron. Civilian operations started in 1964, when Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) started flights to Oslo. Avinor AS is a state-owned aksjeselskap, limited company that operates most of the civil airports in Norway. The Norwegian state, via the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications, controls 100 percent of the share capital. Avinor was created on 1 January 2003, by the privatization of the Norwegian Civil Aviation Administration known as ''Luftfartsverket''.
