Andy Watson (footballer, Born 1959)
Andrew Watson (born 3 September 1959) is a Scottish former professional footballer and coach. During his playing career, Aberdeen-born Watson had spells at Aberdeen, Leeds United, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian. As a coach, he has worked with clubs in Scotland and England, and has been part of the Scottish national team management setup in two separate spells. Career Player Beginning his professional career with his hometown club Aberdeen under manager Alex Ferguson, Watson was a winner of the 1979–80 Scottish Premier Division title and the 1982–83 Scottish Cup, and was also an unused substitute in the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup Final victory. However he was never a regular starter in that strong ''Dons'' team and left the club at the end of that season. Watson joined Leeds United for a fee of £60,000, brought to the club by Scottish manager Eddie Gray, and was a starting player at Elland Road in his one full season in England's second tier. Andrew Anthony Watson (born 1 April 1967) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a striker in a career spanning twelve years, and made over 300 league appearances. After coming through the youth system at Yorkshire Amateur, Watson began his career in his native Yorkshire with Harrogate Town in 1987. After just a year he was signed by Halifax Town, then under the guidance of Billy Ayre. After two years at the Shay, Watson joined Swansea City in 1990 for £40,000. With only a handful of games for the Swans to his name, he moved north the following year to Carlisle United. It was with the Cumbrians that he established his best goals average, scoring 22 times in 56 league appearances. In 1993, Watson was signed for £55,000 by Blackpool, where he was reunited with Billy Ayre. Andrew Geoffrey Watson is the Mayor of Rangitikei District in Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. He was elected as Mayor of Rangitikei on 12 October 2013, defeating incumbent mayor Chalky Leary. Watson was re-elected in 2016 Rangitikei mayoral election, 2016 and 2019. Political career Watson began his political career as a councillor for the Marton, New Zealand, Marton ward of the Rangitikei District Council in the 2004 New Zealand local elections, 2004 local elections. As a councillor he was chosen as Deputy Mayor by Mayor Bob Buchanan. He served in this role for two terms. With mayor Buchanan departing, in 2007 New Zealand local elections, 2007 Watson challenged for the mayoralty with the other contenders being Chalky Leary, Marilyn Craig, Nick Eddy and three others. Andrew Naismith (Andy) Watson (born April 1, 1937) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1978 to 1985, as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Background Watson was born in Woodbridge, Ontario. He graduated from Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph in 1959, and became the OMAF assistant agricultural representative for Waterloo County later in the same year. He was transferred to Northumberland County in 1962, and became the agricultural representative for Kent County from 1968 to 1978. Politics In 1978, Watson ran as served as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the riding of Chatham—Kent to replace former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister Darcy McKeough. Andrew James Watson FRS (born 1952) is a British marine and atmospheric scientist and an expert in processes affecting atmospheric carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations. He was formerly a Professor of biogeochemistry in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, in 2013 he moved to a position as Professor at the College of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Exeter. Earth sciences Watson graduated with a first class BSc in physics from Imperial College London in 1975. He then became a PhD student of James Lovelock, originator of the Gaia hypothesis of Earth regulation, at the University of Reading.
