Andy Pearson
Andy Pearson is a mixologist and director of drinks consultancy Intoxicology. ''The Telegraph'' declared him "the UK's top bartender". In 2007 Pearson won the United Kingdom Bartenders Guild National Cocktail Competition with his cocktail ''Spirit of '57''; he went on to represent the UK in the IBA World Cocktail Competition, finishing in the top five. Pearson is one of the resident drinks experts for the BBC2 television show Something for the Weekend, on which he makes regular appearances. Mixologist
A bartender (also known as a barkeep, barman, barmaid, or a mixologist) is a person who formulates and serves alcoholic or soft drink beverages behind the bar, usually in a licensed establishment as well as in restaurants and nightclubs, but also occasionally at private parties. Bartenders also usually maintain the supplies and inventory for the bar. As well as serving beer and wine, a bartender can generally also mix classic cocktails such as a Cosmopolitan, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Mojito. Bartenders are also responsible for confirming that customers meet the legal drinking age requirements before serving them alcoholic beverages. International Bartenders Association
The International Bartenders Association (IBA), founded on 24 February 1951 in the saloon of the Grand Hotel in Torquay, England, is an international organisation established in order to represent the best bartenders in the world. An annual event, both World Cocktail Competition (WCC) and World Flairtending Competition (WFC) were presented and organised by the IBA. The IBA also sanctions a list of official cocktails. Each year the events take place in different destinations. For instance in 2006, the competitions were held in Meliton Porto Carras Hotel, Halkidiki, Greece, from 6 October 2006 (for the 32nd annual WCC) to 7 October 2006 (for the 7th annual WFC). ''Something for the Weekend'' is a British television programme, broadcast on BBC Two on Sunday mornings from 2006 until 2012. It features cookery, drinks, interviews with celebrity guests and clips from the week's television, as well as classic clips in the 'Deja View' section. The show was originally presented by Amanda Hamilton, Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer. In 2010, Louise Redknapp replaced Hamilton.
