Andrew Jackson Higgins (28 August 1886 – 1 August 1952) was an American businessman and boatbuilder who founded Higgins Industries, the New Orleans-based manufacturer of "Higgins boats" (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel, or LCVPs) during World War II. The company started out as a small boat-manufacturing business, and became one of the biggest industries in the world with upwards of eighty thousand workers and government contracts worth nearly three hundred fifty million dollars. General Dwight Eisenhower is quoted as saying, "Andrew Higgins ... is the man who won the war for us. ... If Higgins had not designed and built those LCVPs, we never could have landed over an open beach. The whole strategy of the war would have been different." Andrew Higgins, born 13 July 1981 in Epping, Essex, England, is a retired English rugby union player. He played as Centre or Wing for Worcester Warriors, Bristol, Bath, Exeter Chiefs, Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons. Andrew was educated at Christ's Hospital school, Horsham, West Sussex. Andrew Jackson Higgins (judge)
Andrew Jackson Higgins (1921-2011) was a judge on the Supreme Court of Missouri between 1979 and 1991, and its Chief Justice from 1985 to 1987. Previously, he had served as a commissioner for the Supreme Court between 1964 and 1979, and as Circuit Court Judge for Platte County from 1960 to 1964. Zel Fischer, a current Judge of the Supreme Court of Missouri, clerked for Judge Higgins from 1988 to 1989; Judge Higgins administered Judge Fischer's oath. After retiring from the bench, Judge Higgins joined the law firm Inglish & Monaco, P.C., in Jefferson City, Missouri. He practiced and was then Of Counsel until his death. Andy Higgins (footballer, Born 1960)
Andrew Martin Higgins (12 February 1960 – July 2021) was an English footballer who played as a defender. He played 71 league games in the Football League, mostly for teams struggling near the bottom of the Fourth Division. Career Higgins turned professional with Chesterfield in February 1978. He played one Third Division game for the "Spireites" in 1978–79, under Arthur Cox. He signed with Port Vale in February 1981, with manager John McGrath looking to add some strength to a poor defence. Higgins played ten games in 1980–81, helping the "Valiants" to rise off the foot of the Football League. However, he failed to nail down a regular place and played just four Fourth Division games in 1981–82. He was given a free transfer away from Vale Park in May 1982, and moved on to Billy Horner's Hartlepool United. Andrew Higgins (born 21 September 1993) is an Australian footballer who currently plays for ECU Joondalup as a left back or left winger. Career Portsmouth Born in Perth, Higgins moved to England, and signed a two-year scholarship with Portsmouth on 15 July 2010. United States Naval Ship (USNS) is the prefix designation given to non- commissioned ships that are property of the United States Navy (USN). Andrew Christian Wiggins (born February 23, 1995) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks. Wiggins grew up in Canada before attending his last two years of high school in the United States, where he was named a McDonald's All-American.
