Andy Cowan (musician)
Andy Cowan is an Australian blues soul pianist and singer. He was nominated for the 2001 ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album with ''10.30 Thursdays''. Andy Cowan was a member of Madder Lake (1973–75) and Ayers Rock (1978-81) and toured with Renee Geyer, Kevin Borich and Ian Moss. Cowan has done session work for many Australian recordings and film and has released eight solo albums and a live DVD "A Tale Of Two Cities" recorded in Melbourne and Sydney. He currently lives on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Andy Cowan (born Andrew Glenn Cowan) is an American writer and script consultant for television and other media. He is the creator and host of the therapy/comedy podcast, ''The Neurotic Vaccine'', launched in 2022 from Benztown + McVay Media Podcast Networks. From 2010–2011, he co-hosted his radio comedy therapy talk show, ''Up & Down Guys'', on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles. In 2019 an ''Up & Down Guys'' podcast pilot was produced for Westwood One. He has appeared on several television shows, hosted the hour-long talk show pilot, ''Another Talk Show! with Andy Cowan'', featuring Jason Alexander and Sheila Raye Charles, and was guest commentator on KTTV's ''Good Day L.A.'' ARIA Award For Best Blues And Roots Album
The ARIA Music Award for Best Blues and Roots Album, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It is handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." To be eligible, the recording must be an album in the contemporary and traditional blues genres, and contemporary adaptations of Australian traditional music and/or folklore. Alizarin (also known as 1,2-dihydroxyanthraquinone, Mordant Red 11, C.I. 58000, and Turkey Red) is an organic compound with formula that has been used throughout history as a prominent red dye, principally for dyeing textile fabrics. Ayers Rock (band)
Ayers Rock were an Australian rock band which formed in August 1973. Ray Burton (guitar and vocals), Mark Kennedy (drums), and Duncan McGuire (bass), members of Leo de Castro and Friends, left to form the eponymous trio of Burton, McGuire & Kennedy. They added a guitarist, Jimmy Doyle, changed their name to Ayers Rock and invited Col Loughnan (saxophones and flutes) to join. The group signed with independent label Mushroom Records in December 1973. Burton left the following March, and was replaced by Chris Brown (guitar, vocals). With live appearances, coverage in print media and word of mouth the group had a high national profile despite little radio airplay, and journalists praised their musicianship, music, and live energy. Kevin Borich
Kevin Nicholas Borich (born 27 October 1948, Huapai, North Island, New Zealand) is a New Zealand-born Australian guitarist and singer-songwriter. He was a founding member of The La De Das, the leader of Kevin Borich Express, and a founding member of The Party Boys, as well as a session musician for numerous acts. Borich wrote "Gonna See My Baby Tonight" for The La De Das, which became a top 10 hit in 1971 on the Australian singles chart. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. He performed at some of Australia's biggest rock events including the 1972 Sunbury Pop Festival and the late 1970s Rockarena tours with 60,000 people, featuring Fleetwood Mac, Santana and The Little River Band. Ian Moss
Ian Richard Moss (born 20 March 1955) is an Australian rock musician from Alice Springs. He is the founding mainstay guitarist and occasional singer of Cold Chisel. In that group's initial eleven year phase from 1973 to 1984, Moss was recorded on all five studio albums, three of which reached number one on the national Kent Music Report Albums Chart. In August 1989 he released his debut solo album, ''Matchbook'', which peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was preceded by his debut single, "Tucker's Daughter", which reached number two on the related ARIA Singles Chart in March. The track was co-written by Moss with Don Walker, also from Cold Chisel.
