Andrés De Vandelvira
Andrés de Vandelvira (1509–1575) was a Spanish architect, active mainly in Jaén, Uclés, Baeza, and Úbeda during the Renaissance. He was born in Alcaraz, in the province of Albacete and died in Jaén. The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Villacarrillo was one of his first works in Jaén. Among his most notable works is the ''Chapel of the Savior'' in Úbeda, based on a project by Diego de Siloé, and commissioned by Francisco de los Cobos. The Chapel is located on the Vazquez de Molina Square next to the Dean Ortega Palace and the Vázquez de Molina Palace, both designed by Vandelvira. He completed the Chapel of the Benavides in the convent of San Francisco of Baeza. He also helped complete the cathedral de Baeza, the Convent of Santo Domingo de La Guardia in Jaén, and the Hospital de Santiago in Úbeda. The Church of la Santísima Trinidad ( Spanish: ''Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad'') is a Roman Catholic church located in Alcaraz, Spain. It was declared '' Bien de Interés Cultural'' in 1982. Vázquez De Molina Palace
The Vazquez de Molina Palace, also known as the Palace of the Chains is a renaissance palace located in Vazquez de Molina Square in Úbeda (Jaén). It is considered to be one of the best examples of the Renaissance architecture in Spain. History The palace was built by Juan Vazquez de Molina, nephew of Francisco de los Cobos, and secretary of State for Philip II. The project was given to Andrés de Vandelvira who built it between 1546 and 1565. After the death of the owner the palace became a convent of Dominican nuns, and was remodeled to accommodate the religious community. The mural paintings in the former chapter house can still be seen. In 1837, after the Ecclesiastical Confiscations of Mendizábal, the building became the City hall. Francisco de los Cobos y Molina (c. 1477 – 10 May 1547) was the secretary of State and '' Comendador'' for the kingdom of Castile under the rule of the Emperor Charles I of Spain. Biographical data He was born in Úbeda ca. 1477 and died on 10 May 1547 in the same city. He was born to the aristocratic, though economically disadvantaged family of Don Pedro Rodríguez de los Cobos, he was the son of don Diego de los Cobos, regent of Ubeda, and Catalina de Molina.
