André Sehmisch
André Sehmisch (born 27 September 1964 in Steinheidel-Erlabrunn) is a former German biathlete. Career In 1987 and 1989 he became world champion with the East German relay team. In 1986 he won the overall World Cup. After the German reunification, Sehmisch was passed over for many younger racers. In the 1992–93 season he finished second in the overall European Cup. Sehmisch retired after that season. He later opened a skiing school. He began his career at the SG Dynamo Schwarzenberg / Sportvereinigung (SV) Dynamo. Breitenbrunn, Saxony
Breitenbrunn is a community in the Ore Mountains in the district of Erzgebirgskreis in the Free State of Saxony in Germany. Geography Constituent communities The community consists of Breitenbrunn with Breitenhof, Carolathal, Halbemeile and Rabenberg, Antonsthal with Antonshöhe, Erlabrunn, Steinheidel and Fällbach as well as Rittersgrün and Tellerhäuser. The International Biathlon Union (IBU; german: Internationale Biathlon-Union) is the international governing body of biathlon. Its headquarters were in Salzburg, Austria, until May 2020, when the Federation moved to Anif, on the outskirts of the city. Obertilliach
Obertilliach is a municipality in the district of Lienz, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Geography It is located in East Tyrol, in a high valley of the upper Gail River east of the Kartitsch Saddle known as Lesachtal, between the Gailtal Alps (Lienz Dolomites) in the north and the Carnic Alps in the south. Down the valley to the east lies the neighbouring municipality of Untertilliach, the mountain crest in the south marks the border with the Venetian Cadore region in Italy. 1989–90 Biathlon World Cup
The 1989–90 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the UIPMB ( Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon). The season started on 14 December 1989 in Obertilliach, Austria, and ended on 18 March 1990 in Kontiolahti, Finland. It was the 13th season of the Biathlon World Cup. Originally, the World Championships were to be held in Minsk. However, due to a lack of snow, only the individual competitions could be held, and the team, sprint and relay races were moved to Holmenkollen. This caused the UIPMB to declare the World Championship races as counting towards the World Cup. On the last day in Holmenkollen, the men's relay was cancelled during the last leg due to fog; it was subsequently moved to Kontiolahti.
