André Bourbeau
André Bourbeau, (June 1, 1936 – March 25, 2018) was a Canadian politician. A member of the Quebec Liberal Party, Bourbeau served as member of the National Assembly of Quebec for Laporte serving from 1981 until 2003. Early life Bourbeau was born in Verdun, Quebec, the son of Louis-Auguste Bourbeau and Antoinette Miquelon. He studied at the Séminaire de Sherbrooke and the University of Montreal before receiving a Diploma in Law from McGill University in 1959. Political career Bourbeau became a notary in 1960 and practiced in Montreal from 1960 to 1981. From 1970 to 1978, he served as a city councillor in Saint-Lambert, Quebec. He was mayor from 1978 to 1981. In 1981, he was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec for Laporte. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1985, 1989, 1994, and 1998. He did not run in 2003. Montreal International Music Competition
The Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is an elite-level competition for classical musicians who are interested in pursuing an international career as a professional concert artist. Established in 2001 by the late André Bourbeau and by the late French-Canadian bass Joseph Rouleau, the CMIM features three disciplines - voice, violin and piano - on a rotating basis over a three-year cycle. The CMIM is composed of four rounds: the preliminary round (based on video recordings), the First round, the semi-finals and the finals. Award winners receive prizes and grants valued at over $150,000. The 2023 edition, which will take place from April 22 to May 4, 2023, will be dedicated to the Violin, followed by the Piano edition in 2024 and the Voice edition in 2025. Wilfrid Pelletier
Joseph Louis Wilfrid Pelletier (sometimes spelled Wilfred), (20 June 1896 – 9 April 1982) was a Canadian conductor, pianist, composer, and arts administrator. He was instrumental in establishing the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, serving as the orchestra's first artistic director and conductor from 1935 to 1941. He had a long and fruitful partnership with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City that began with his appointment as a rehearsal accompanist in 1917; ultimately working there as one of the company's conductors in mainly the French opera repertoire from 1929 to 1950. From 1951 to 1966 he was the principal conductor of the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec.
