Andrzej Witos
Andrzej Witos (born 8 November 1878 in Wierzchosławice, died 9 March 1973 in Łódź) was a Polish politician, activist and younger brother of Wincenty Witos. Biography From 1902 he lived in Jasionów (between 1905–1907 in the United States). In 1928 in Złoczew, he ran a farm. He belonged to the Polish People's Party (PSL). In the years 1922–1927 he was a member of Polish parliament (the ''Sejm''). After the Soviet invasion of Poland, in 1940 he was deported to Siberia. In 1941 he was imprisoned in a labor camp as president of the Settlement Union of the Tarnopol Voivodeship. After being released as a result of the Sikorski–Mayski agreement, in 1942–1943 he was an employee of the Polish Embassy in the Soviet Union responsible for the Polish population in Azerbaijan. State National Council
Krajowa Rada Narodowa in Polish (translated as State National Council or Homeland National Council, abbreviated to KRN) was a parliament-like political body created during the later stages of World War II in German-occupied Warsaw, Poland. It was intended as a communist-controlled center of authority, challenging organs of the legitimate and mainstream Polish Underground State. The existence of the KRN was later accepted by the Soviet Union and the council became to a large extent subjugated and controlled by the Soviets. The United People's Party ( pl, Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe, ZSL) was an agrarian socialist political party in the People's Republic of Poland. It was formed on 27 November 1949 from the merger of the pro-Communist Stronnictwo Ludowe party with remnants of the independent Polish People's Party of Stanisław Mikołajczyk. ZSL became – as intended from its beginning – a satellite party of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR), representing the PZPR in the rural areas. It was a member of the Front of National Unity until 1982, and from 1982 was a member of the Front's successor, the Patriotic Movement for National Rebirth.
