Andrzej Celiński
Andrzej Bohdan Celiński (; born 26 February 1950 in Warsaw) is a Polish politician. Until 1989 activist of the democratic opposition in Poland. Former Member of Senate and Sejm. Minister of Culture in the government of Prime Minister Leszek Miller (2001-2002). He was a member of Social Democracy of Poland (SdPl), and previously Democratic Left Alliance and Freedom Union. As Sejm Member he was a member of Left and Democrats caucus. He is a graduate of University of Warsaw (social sciences). After this he became prominent member of independent scouting movement, Workers' Defence Committee and later Solidarity. He was one of the leaders of independence movement during the communist time in Poland. From September 1980 he was a secretary of the Inter-Enterprise Strike Committee in Gdansk, and then head of the cabinet for the Chairman of Solidarity Lech Wałęsa. Democratic Union (Poland)
The Democratic Union ( pl, Unia Demokratyczna) was a liberal Christian-democratic party in Poland. The party was founded in 1991 by Prime Minister, Christian democrat Tadeusz Mazowiecki as a merger of the Citizens' Movement for Democratic Action (''Ruch Obywatelski Akcja Demokratyczna'') and the Forum of Right Democrats (''Forum Prawicy Demokratycznej''). The party had a market-socialist profile with Christian-democratic influence. Important members were Bronisław Geremek, Jacek Kuroń, Adam Michnik, Hanna Suchocka, Jan Rokita and Aleksander Hall. Freedom Collection is a digital repository sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute at the George W. Bush Presidential Center on Southern Methodist University's campus in Dallas, Texas. The collection documents major players in human rights and freedom movements around the world during the 20th and 21st centuries through video interviews and documents. Jan Józef Lipski
Jan Józef Lipski (26 May 1926 in Warsaw – 10 September 1991 in Kraków) was a Polish critic, literature historian, politician and freemason. As a soldier of the Home Army ( Armia Krajowa), he fought in the Warsaw Uprising. Editor of collected works by Jan Kasprowicz, Benedykt Chmielowski and Gabriela Zapolska. Political life Between 1956 and 1957 Lipski was an editor of the pro-reform weekly "Po prostu"; from 1957 to 1959 he was president of the Crooked Circle Club. In 1964 Lipski organized the Letter of the 34 (objecting the expansion of censorship in communist Poland).
