Louis Andriessen
Louis Joseph Andriessen (; 6 June 1939 – 1 July 2021) was a Dutch composer, pianist and academic teacher. Considered the most influential Dutch composer of his generation, he was a central proponent of The Hague school of composition. Although his music was initially dominated by neoclassicism and serialism, his style gradually shifted to a synthesis of American minimalism, jazz and the manner of Stravinsky. Born in Utrecht into a musical family, Andriessen studied with his father, the composer Hendrik Andriessen as well as composers Kees van Baaren and Luciano Berio. Andriessen taught at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague from 1974 to 2012, influencing notable composers. His opera ''La Commedia'', based on Dante's ''Divine Comedy'', won the 2011 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition and was selected in 2019 by critics at ''The Guardian'' as one of the most outstanding compositions of the 21st century. Franciscus Henricus Johannes Joseph "Frans" Andriessen (2 April 1929 – 22 March 2019) was a Dutch politician of the defunct Catholic People's Party (KVP) and later the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and businessperson who served as European Commissioner from 6 January 1981 until 6 January 1993. Andriessen studied Law at the Utrecht University obtaining a Master of Laws degree. Andriessen worked for a construction institute in Utrecht from October 1953 until February 1967 and as CEO from July 1961. Hendrick Andriessen, known as Mancken Heyn ('Limping Henry') (Antwerp, 1607 – Antwerp or Zeeland, 1655) was a Flemish people, Flemish still-life painter. Adrie Andriessen
Adrianus "Aad" Andriessen (13 December 1960 – 4 December 2021) was a Dutch footballer. He played for Sparta Rotterdam as a central defender from 1980 until 1987 when a knee injury forced him to retire. He went on to become a trainer in the regional amateur leagues. Biography In 1980, Andriessen made his début for Sparta Rotterdam after he had played in the club's youth. In his third season there, he became central defender for the team. On 2 October 1985, he scored from a penalty against Hamburger SV during a UEFA Cup match which resulted in a victory for Sparta. In 1987, a knee injury forced Andriessen to retire. He made a total of 157 official appearances for Sparta. Andriessen went on to become a trainer of amateur teams, starting on an ASWH youth team. Jurriaan Andriessen (composer)
Jurriaan Hendrik Andriessen (15 November 1925, Haarlem - 23 August 1996, The Hague) was a Dutch composer. Andriessen studied composition with his father Hendrik at the Utrecht Conservatory before moving to Paris where he studied with Olivier Messiaen. His brother Louis Andriessen (1939-2021) was also a composer and pianist, as well as his uncle Willem (1887-1964). Career The bulk of Andriessen's output is for the stage; his study in Paris was primarily in writing film music. He had a variety of musical influences which he drew upon, including American film music, Aaron Copland's ballets, folk music of various cultures, neoclassicism, and serialism; this eclecticism combined with his compositional skill made his writing well-suited to scoring dramatic works. Hendrik Franciscus Andriessen (17 September 1892 – 12 April 1981) was a Dutch composer and organist. He is remembered most of all for his improvisation at the organ and for the renewal of Catholic liturgical music in the Netherlands. Willem Andriessen
Willem Andriessen (Haarlem, October 25, 1887 – Amsterdam, March 29, 1964) was a Dutch pianist and composer. His compositional output was small due to the demands of performance and teaching, but he was nonetheless awarded a number of compositional prizes in Belgium and the Netherlands. He was an uncle of Louis Andriessen and Jurriaan Andriessen, who followed in his footsteps as composers. Jurriaan Andriessen (artist)
Jurriaan Andriessen (12 July 1742, Amsterdam - 31 July 1819, Amsterdam) was a Dutch decorative painter and graphic artist. Biography His father was from Brandenburg and his mother was from Holstein. He began his art studies at the age of twelve with the decorative painter Anthony Elliger. Four years later, he worked with Jan Maurits Quinkhard.Profile in the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie. In 1760, he attended the Technical School in Amsterdam and was awarded first prize for his graduation work in 1766. Albert Andriessen Bradt (1607 – June 7, 1686) was one of the earliest Norwegian settlers in New Netherland. In the early records he is often referred to as Albert Noorman ('Norwegian'). Biography Albert Andriessen Bradt (spelled "Bratt" during his lifetime) was born at Fredrikstad in Østfold, Norway. He moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands at a time when commerce between Norwegian and Dutch merchants was well established. In 1636 he joined a party for New Netherland. In a 1636 agreement between Bradt and Kiliaen van Rensselaer, Bradt is listed as a tobacco planter. In the early records, he is sometimes referred to as "Albert the Noorman".
