Pinsk ( be, Пі́нск; russian: Пи́нск ; Polish: Pińsk; ) is a city located in the Brest Region of Belarus, in the Polesia region, at the confluence of the Pina River and the Pripyat River. The region was known as the Marsh of Pinsk and is southwest of Minsk. The population is 138,415. The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The 2001–02 Israeli Premier League season saw Maccabi Haifa win their second consecutive title. It took place from the first match on 25 August 2001 to the final match on 18 May 2002. The regular season took place from the first match on 12 August 2000 to the final match on 22 April 2001. The table was then divided into two groups, the upper and lower, which had six teams each. It began on 3 July 1993 with the first of five rounds and ended on 24 June 1994 with the final at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk. The 1995 Belarusian Premier League was the fifth season of top-tier football in Belarus. It started on 10 July and ended on 6 November 1995. Dinamo Minsk were the defending champions. Team changes from 1994–95 season Gomselmash Gomel and Lokomotiv Vitebsk, who finished on 15th and 16th places, relegated to Belarusian First League.
