Northwood Headquarters is a military headquarters facility of the British Armed Forces in Eastbury, Hertfordshire, England, adjacent to the London suburb of Northwood. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. Military career Rollo was commissioned as a second lieutenant (on probation) in the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve on 10 March 1977. He was then granted a short service commission, as a University Candidate, in the Blues and Royals on 4 September that year. His commission was subsequently confirmed and he was promoted to lieutenant, with seniority from 4 September 1975. He was promoted to captain on 4 March 1980, and to major on 30 September 1987.
