Andrew P. Hunter
Andrew Philip Hunter is an American defense official and policy analyst who is the 14th and current assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics ( SAF/AQ). Prior to becoming an Air Force Assistant Secretary, he was the director of the defense industrial initiatives group at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Before joining CSIS, Hunter spent 15 years as a staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives, and as a senior procurement official at the Department of Defense during the Obama administration. Education Hunter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies from Harvard University in 1994 and a Master of Arts in applied economics from Johns Hopkins University in 2001. Assistant Secretary Of The Air Force (Acquisition, Technology And Logistics)
The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics) (SAF/AQ) is a civilian position in the Department of the Air Force that is appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate. This position is established under Title 10 US Code Section 9016 and is one of five Assistant Secretary positions under the Secretary of the Air Force. The Assistant Secretary reports to the Secretary of the Air Force. Under the law a Principal Military Deputy serves with the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. The Principal Military Deputy is required to be an active duty officer with a background in acquisition and program management. If the Assistant Secretary position is vacant the law permits the Principal Military Deputy to serve up to a year as the Acting Assistant Secretary. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (; NDAA 2020Pub.L. 116-92 is a United States federal law which specifies the budget, expenditures and policies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) for fiscal year 2020. Analogous NDAAs have been passed in previous and subsequent years. The NAA passed the House by a vote of 377–48 and the Senate by a vote of 86–8 and became effective on December 20, 2019 when it was signed into law by President Donald Trump. The Act authorised a $738 billion allocation to the United States military.
