Andrew Meads (born 2 February 1977) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. Primarily a , he was a foundation player for the North Queensland Cowboys and also had stints with the Balmain Tigers and Parramatta Eels. Background A Townsville Brothers junior, Meads attended Kirwan State High School. Playing career In 1994, Meads represented the Queensland under-17 side, starting at in their 14–28 loss to New South Wales. 1995 North Queensland Cowboys Season
The 1995 North Queensland Cowboys season was the first in the club's history. Coached by Grant Bell and captained by Laurie Spina, they competed in the ARL Premiership. Season summary Two years after being admitted into Australia's premier rugby league competition, the North Queensland Cowboys played their first official premiership game on Saturday, March 11. Lead by inaugural captain and Ingham local Laurie Spina, the club faced the Sydney Bulldogs in front of a crowd of 23,156 at Stockland Stadium. There was no fairy tale beginning for the club, as centre Adrian Vowles was sent off for a high shot six minutes into the match and the Bulldogs won the game 32-16. The 2003 NRL premiership was the 96th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the sixth run by the National Rugby League. Fifteen teams competed, with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles returning in place of their failed joint-venture club, the Northern Eagles. The 2002 NRL season was the 95th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the fifth to be run by the National Rugby League. The season was affected by the competition-leading Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' salary cap breach finding, which saw them relegated to the bottom of the NRL ladder.
