Andrew Lumsden (bishop)
Andrew Lumsden, M.A. (1654–1733) was a Scottish clergyman who served as the Bishop of Edinburgh (1727–1733) and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church (1727–1731). Early life and family He was baptised on 8 October 1654, son of the Reverend Charles Lumsden, Incumbent of Duddingston, and Beatrix Melvill. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh, where awarded a Master of Arts degree in 1671., ''Scottish Episcopal Clergy'', pp. 82–83. He married Katherine Craig on 26 October 1682, and they had eight children: Elizabeth, Beatrix, John, Charles, William, Margaret, Andrew, and Isabelle. His eldest son, John, was made a baronet in the Jacobite peerage by James Francis Edward Stuart. Ecclesiastical career He was licensed to preach in the Church of Scotland by Alexander Young, Bishop of Edinburgh on 4 August 1675. Andrew Lumisden
Andrew Lumisden, Lumsden or Lumiden FRSE FSA (1720–25 December 1801) was a Scottish Jacobite. He was Personal Secretary to Bonnie Prince Charlie during his exile in Rome. He was a joint founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1783. Early life He was the only son of William Lumisden, a law agent in Edinburgh, and his wife, Mary Bruce, daughter of Robert Bruce, an Edinburgh merchant. He was educated at the High School in Edinburgh then studied law at the University of Edinburgh, which he followed until the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. The '45 On the recommendation of Dr Alexander Cunningham, a younger son of Sir William Cunningham of Caprington, Ayrshire, Lumisden became private secretary to Charles Edward Stuart shortly after his arrival in Edinburgh. He accompanied the prince throughout the campaign, and was present at the battle of Culloden. Andrew Gino Lumsden (born 22 January 1947) is an English neurobiologist, Emeritus Professor of the University of London and founder in 2000 of the Medical Research Council Centre for Developmental Neurobiology at King's College London. Education Andrew Lumsden attended Kingswood School in Bath, Somerset (as Andrew Sita-Lumsden) and graduated from St. Catharine's College, Cambridge with Double First Class Honours in Natural Sciences. After visiting Yale University for two years as a Fulbright Scholar, he returned to England to complete his PhD in Developmental Biology at the University of London. Career and research Lumsden has held various lectureships at Guy's Hospital Medical School and the United Medical Schools of Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital before being made a full Professor of the University of London in 1989. Andrew Lumsden (choral Director)
Andrew Lumsden (born 10 November 1962) is a British organist and musician. He has been organist and director of music at Winchester Cathedral from 2002. The son of musician and choirmaster David Lumsden, he trained at Winchester College, RSAMD and St John's College, Cambridge, before taking up the position of assistant organist at Southwark Cathedral in 1985. From there he moved to Westminster Abbey in 1988 as sub-organist and then to Lichfield Cathedral in 1992 as organist and master of the choristers until moving to Winchester in 2002.
