Andrew Lee (Australian Footballer)
Andrew Dwayne Lee (born 1 July 1986) is an Australian rules footballer who played with the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted from the Burnie Dockers, via the Tassie Mariners U18s and the Tasmanian Devils, with selection 30 in the 2004 Draft. Lee was captain of the Tassie Mariners U18 side in 2003 and 2004, and was ranked in the top 5 for the agility test at draft camp, which was an impressive effort for a taller, more solidly-built player. Lee's debut year at Essendon was marred by a serious case of osteitis pubis. He was the only senior-listed player at Essendon to fail to play a senior game in 2005. The faith the club invested in him was evident in the granting of the prized number 32 jumper, previously worn by club champions Barry Davis and Tim Watson. Brighton is a suburb 27 km north of Hobart, in Tasmania, Australia. It is between Pontville and the outer Hobart suburb of Bridgewater on the Midland Highway. At the 2016 census, Brighton had a population of 4,983. Timothy Michael Watson (born 13 July 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). After retiring from the game, he has continued working in the Australian football industry as a coach, sports journalist and media personality. Watson was the fourth-youngest player ever to play in the VFL/AFL competition and made a comeback after retirement which included another premiership. Tim is a prominent and popular sports journalist and media personality. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. Barry Davis (footballer)
Barry Davis (born 15 September 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) with Essendon and North Melbourne, before coaching his original team between 1978 and 1980. Playing career Essendon Football Club In the summer of 1961 Barry Davis and a school friend were asked to train with Essendon in a bid to play in the Under 19s. Davis impressed observers and he was asked to participate in pre-season practice matches that included players from the main list. He played in the Reserves for round 1 of the 1961 season. Recruited from Essendon High School Davis made his debut with Essendon Football Club in the VFL in the second round of 1961, Davis played off the half-back line and was quite a prolific ball-gathering player. Burnie Dockers Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia. The club currently competes in the North West Football League (NWFL). Club history The Burnie Dockers were formed as a result of a merger between former TFL Statewide League club Burnie Hawks (formerly known as Cooee) and NTFL club the Burnie Tigers. After several years of bitter hatred in the city between the two rival clubs, both clubs were struggling both on-field and financially by the early 1990s.
