Andrew Heiskell Award was created by Institute of International Education in 2001. The award was named after the name of Andrew Heiskell, a former chairman of Time Inc. Time Inc. was an American worldwide mass media corporation founded on November 28, 1922, by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden and based in New York City. It owned and published over 100 magazine brands, including its namesake ''Time'', ''Sports Illu ... and a member of the executive committee of IIE's board of trustees. The aim of this award is to promote and honor the outstanding initiative which is being conducted in international higher education by universities and colleges under IIE network.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is a 501(c) organization which focuses on international student exchange and aid, foreign affairs, and international peace and security. IIE creates programs of study and training for students, educators and professionals from various sectors. Andrew Heiskell
Andrew Heiskell (September 13, 1915 – July 6, 2003) was chairman and CEO of Time Inc. Biography Heiskell was born in Naples, the second child of American parents, Ann Moore Hubbard and Morgan Ott Heiskell, who had married in Wheeling, West Virginia and then moved to Capri. He spent his childhood abroad. In 1946, aged just 30, he was named publisher of ''Life''; later, as CEO, he had to close it down (in 1972). In 1974 he created ''People'', which rapidly became a great asset. The Institute of International Education's Andrew Heiskell Award is named for him.
