Andrew Dunn (actor)
Andrew Dunn (born 12 April 1957) is an English actor, best known for the role of Tony in the BBC sitcom ''dinnerladies'' between 1998 and 2000. He later played Roger Stiles in '' Coronation Street'' from 2007 to 2008. He was born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, but was brought up in North Shields, eight miles (13 km) east of Newcastle upon Tyne, before leaving for London at the age of 20. He trained as a teacher but decided he wanted to act. He later moved to York. Early life He was born in Leeds, but then the family moved to North Shields when he was nine. He attended Whitehouse Primary School and then Marden High School in Cullercoats, and then Tynemouth Sixth Form College, where he became interested in drama. Andrew Dunn (1854–1934) was a newspaper proprietor and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Council. Early life Andrew Dunn was born on 4 May 1854 in Greenock, Scotland, the son of Andrew Dunn and his wife Ann (née Anderson). Newspaper proprietor Having pursued careers unrelated to newspapers, in the late 1880s Andrew Dunn was appointed as a business manager for the Maryborough Chronicle. In 1888 he was given a £10 bonus from each stakeholder for his good work. This enabled him to purchase shares in the business and become a director. By 1891 he was the chairman of the company. His son Andrew (junior) had been working for the ''Rockhampton Bulletin'' for some years, when the death of one of its owners, John Blair, provided the opportunity for Andrew Dunn (senior) to purchase a controlling interest in the newspaper and put his sons Andrew (junior) and William Herbert Alan (Herbie) Dunn in charge of it. Victoria Medal Of Honour
The Victoria Medal of Honour (VMH) is awarded to British horticulturists resident in the United Kingdom whom the Royal Horticultural Society Council considers deserving of special honour by the Society. The award was established in 1897 "in perpetual remembrance of Her Majesty's glorious reign, and to enable the Council to confer honour on British horticulturists." The Society's rules state that only sixty-three horticulturists can hold the VMH at any given time, in commemoration of the sixty-three years of Queen Victoria's reign. Therefore, the honour is not awarded every year, but may be made to multiple recipients in other years. Andrew Hunter Dunn
Andrew Hunter Dunn (16 October 183914 November 1914) was an eminent Anglican priest, the fifth Bishop of Quebec. Head of Bishop's University and Bishop's College School. Dunn was born in Saffron Walden in 1839, son of Hannebal (Hannibal) Dunn and Mary Ann Hunter. His mother was the daughter of William Hunter, who was Lord Mayor of London in 1852. Educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, he graduated BA as 29th Wrangler in 1863. Ordained in 1864, his first post was a curacy at St Mark's, Notting Hill. In 1870 he became curate, and in 1872 Vicar, of All Saints, South Acton. In 1892 he was appointed to the episcopate, as the fifth Bishop of Quebec. In 1893 he received an honorary DD from the University of Cambridge. He remained Bishop of Quebec until his sudden death on board ship, homeward bound. He married his 1st cousin Alice Hunter, with whom he had five sons and two daughters. His son Edward was also a bishop, and his grand daughter Joan was the muse of John Betjeman. ...
