Andrew Ball (Royal Navy Officer)
Andrew Ball (died 1653) was an English officer of the Royal Navy, Royal and Commonwealth Navy. Life The first official mention of his name is as captain of the ''HMS Adventure (1646), Adventure'' in 1648, when Vice-Admiral William Batten carried part of the fleet over to Holland to join Charles II of England, Charles Stuart, Prince of Wales. Ball was one of those who stayed with George Ayscue, Sir George Ayscue, and who afterwards, on 25 September 1648, signed the refusal to desert. During 1649 he was employed in the English Channel, cruising off the Lizard or Land's End for the safeguard of merchant ships against Piracy, pirates and sea-rovers, and on 21 December was ordered specially to attend to Prince Rupert's movements. Andrew Ball (Townsville Pioneer)
Andrew Ball (died 1894) was a pioneer in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. He is also credited with the European discovery of its site. Early life Andrew Ball was the son of James Creighton Ball and his wife Hannah (née Leeky). Townsville pioneer Andrew Ball was one of the first Europeans to explore the Cleveland Bay district, and is acknowledged as the founder of Townsville. In 1864 he was managing Woodstock Station (to the south of Ross River) for pastoralists Robert Towns and John Melton Black (who together owned Jarvisfield and Woodstock cattle runs and Fanning Downs and Victoria Downs sheep stations), when Black asked Ball to explore the country to the north, to find a suitable port at Cleveland Bay from which to handle station produce. 2010 Ontario Men's Curling Championship
The 2010 Ontario Men's Curling Championship was held February 1-7th, 2010 at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee. Eleven teams participated. It marked the first year that the defending champion (Glenn Howard's rink) would get an automatic berth. Winner Glenn Howard went on to represent Ontario at the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier in Halifax, Nova Scotia, losing in the final to Kevin Koe's Alberta rink. Marvel CyberComics or Webisodes were digital comics produced from 1996 to 2000 by Marvel Comics using Adobe Shockwave. The Marvel CyberComics were originally made available exclusively on the AOL web portal, but were later made freely available on the Marvel.com website. Andrew Ball (16 June 1950 – 10 July 2022) was a British pianist, best known for his interpretations of Michael Tippett’s piano sonatas, which he studied with the composer. Ball was born in Southampton and was educated at Barton Peveril Grammar School in Eastleigh. One of his first appearances as a pianist was with the Havant Chamber Orchestra in 1966. He studied music at Queen’s College, Oxford and then at the Royal College of Music in London with Kendall Taylor, Maurice Cole and David Wilde. He made his professional debut in London on 4 June 1974 at the Wigmore Hall, playing Clementi, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and Prokofiev. After studying the sonatas of Michael Tippett with the composer he frequently performed the works as a complete cycle. He also recorded the complete Tippett song cycles with the tenor Martyn Hill.
