Andrej Žernovski
Andrej Žernovski ( mk, Андреј Жерновски; born 26 November 1968 in Skopje) is a Macedonian politician, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the former Deputy foreign minister of his country. He served as mayor of the Centar Municipality of Skopje between 2013 and 2017. Biography Andrej was born and grew up in the Center Municipality of Skopje. He graduated from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje as a construction engineer. In 1993 he Žernovski joins the Liberal Democrat Party. Between 1994 and 1997 he is the leader of the youth wing of the party. Between the years 1996 and 2000 he was an advisor to the Council of the City of Skopje. Between 1998 and 2002, he is the speaker of the party. In year 2000 he works as an advisor to the mayor of City of Skopje. Skopje
Skopje ( , , ; mk, Скопје ; sq, Shkup) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. The territory of Skopje has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC; remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the modern city centre. Originally a Paeonian city, Scupi became the capital of Dardania in the second century BC. On the eve of the 1st century AD, the settlement was seized by the Romans and became a military camp. When the Roman Empire was divided into eastern and western halves in 395 AD, Scupi came under Byzantine rule from Constantinople. During much of the early medieval period, the town was contested between the Byzantines and the Bulgarian Empire, whose capital it was between 972 and 992. Skopje 2014
Skopje 2014 ( mk, Скопје 2014) was a project financed by the Macedonian government of the then-ruling nationalist party VMRO-DPMNE, with the official purpose of giving the capital Skopje a more classical appeal. The project, officially announced in 2010, consisted mainly of the construction of colleges, museums and government buildings, as well as the erection of monuments depicting historical figures from the region of Macedonia. Around 20 buildings and over 40 monuments were to be constructed as part of the project. The project was seen as politically controversial in its nature and as a nation-building endeavour, as it tried to further impose Macedonian historiography, promoting a Macedonian identity with unbroken continuity from antiquity over the Middle Ages to the modern times.
