Andrei Pavlovich Tsygankov (russian: Андрей Павлович Цыганков; born April 23, 1964) is a Russian-born academic and author in the fields of international relations at San Francisco State University. Early life and education Tsygankov received his Candidate of Sciences degree at Moscow State University in 1991 and after emigration a PhD from University of Southern California in 2000. Career As of 2017, he has a professor at San Francisco State University in California, where he teaches comparative Russian, and international politics in the Political Science and International Relations departments. The Valdai Discussion Club is a Moscow-based think tank and discussion forum. It was established in 2004 and is named after Lake Valdai, which is located close to Veliky Novgorod, where the Club’s first meeting took place. In 2014, the management of the Club was transferred to the Valdai Club Foundation, established in 2011 by the Council on Foreign and Defence Policy, the Russian International Affairs Council, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and the Higher School of Economics.
