Andrei Oțetea
Andrei Oțetea (–March 21, 1977) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian historian. Born in Sibiel, a village in the Mărginimea Sibiului region, Oțetea attended the local Romanian Orthodox school before entering the Hungarian State High School in Sibiu. His pro-Romanian stance caused problems with a history teacher, leading him to transfer to Andrei Șaguna High School in Brașov. His classmates included Lucian Blaga, Nicolae Colan and Dumitru D. Roșca.Irimie, p. 9 In autumn 1919, after the union of Transylvania with Romania, Oțetea and Roșca were among a group of young men sent by ASTRA to study in France. Within days, they met a group from Western Moldavia, including Mihai Ralea, becoming lifelong friends. Oțetea studied Italian and French at the Sorbonne, also attending Sciences Po. The Romanian Academy ( ro, Academia Română ) is a cultural forum founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 1866. It covers the scientific, artistic and literary domains. The academy has 181 active members who are elected for life. Dan Berindei
Dan Berindei (3 November 1923 – 23 December 2021) was a Romanian historian. He was a titular member of the Romanian Academy from 1992 until his death. Biography A descendant of Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu, he was born in Bucharest on 3 November 1923. After attending the Clemența School, Berindei completed his secondary education at the . He then studied history at the University of Bucharest, graduating in 1945. In February 1945 he married Ioana Berindei (1922–2008), the daughter of historian and politician . The two had a son, noted historian Mihnea Berindei (1948–2016). Their daughter, Ruxandra, was born in 1951 at Văcărești Prison, while her mother was incarcerated there by the communist authorities; Berindei only saw his daughter after 11 months, while her mother was still detained at Mislea Prison. Francesco Guicciardini
Francesco Guicciardini (; 6 March 1483 – 22 May 1540) was an Italian historian and statesman. A friend and critic of Niccolò Machiavelli, he is considered one of the major political writers of the Italian Renaissance. In his masterpiece, ''The History of Italy'', Guicciardini paved the way for a new style in historiography with his use of government sources to support arguments and the realistic analysis of the people and events of his time. Charles Diehl
Charles Diehl (; 19 January 1859 – 1 November 1944) was a French historian born in Strasbourg. He was a leading authority on Byzantine art and history. Biography He received his education at the École Normale Supérieure, and later taught classes on Byzantine history at the Sorbonne. He was member of the École française de Rome (1881–1883) and the École française d'Athènes. In 1910 he became a member of the ''Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres'' (elected president in 1921). He died in Paris. Legacy The Karolou Dil Street in the city of Thessaloniki (Greece) was named after Charles Diehl. The street is located near the Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia that was restored by him between 1907 and 1909.
