Andrei Găluț (; born 2 August 1984) is a former heavy metal singer from Romania. He won the 2007–08 season of Prima TV's ''Megastar'' He was the lead singer metalcore band Goodbye to Gravity from 2011 until 2015 when he was seriously injured in the Colectiv nightclub fire which killed the other four members of the band. Personal life Andrei Găluț was born in Arad, Romania. On 30 October 2015, he was hospitalized in serious condition with burns on 45% of his body after the Colectiv nightclub fire where his band was performing. Musical career After winning the Megastar competition (the Romanian equivalent of ''American Idol'') organized by Prima TV in 2008, he was awarded a Member of Honor Diploma of the City of Arad, his hometown. He was the vocalist of Goodbye to Gravity, a metal band from Romania from 2011 to 2015, having performed during music festivals such as Best Fest Summer Camp in 2011 and Romanian Rock Meeting in 2011. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Goodbye To Gravity
Goodbye to Gravity was a Romanian metalcore band from Bucharest, active from 2011 until 2015, when four of the band's five members died during their concert at a night club in Bucharest, due to a burning firework that started a large fire. History The band first got together in 2010, although they did not play publicly until 2011. Frontman Andrei Găluț, who had previously won the Romanian talent show ''Megastar'' on Prima TV, enlisted the help of a full band, including former members of the Romanian band Thunderstorm, to get the band going. In 2012 the band released their self-titled debut album to a warm reception and steadily built their reputation in Romania. As a result of the success of ''Goodbye to Gravity'', the band were signed to Universal Music's Romanian branch, and played at festivals in countries such as Germany, Portugal and Italy. Prima TV () is a Romanian commercial TV channel, famous mainly for the '' Cronica Cârcotaşilor'' show and various reality shows aired on this channel. Overview Prima TV was launched as one of the first commercial television stations in Romania in December 1997 at 19:00. Until then, on its frequency was known AMEROM CANAL 38 or TeleAmerica. Prima TV was owned and operated by Prima Broadcasting Group, from 2013 to 2020. In 2020, Clever Group acquired Prima TV. Colectiv Nightclub Fire
The Colectiv nightclub fire was a deadly fire in Bucharest, Romania, on 30 October 2015, which killed 64 people (26 on site, 38 in hospitals) and injured 146. The fire, which was the deadliest fire in the country's history, occurred during a free concert performed by the metalcore band Goodbye to Gravity to celebrate the release of their new album, ''Mantras of War''. The band's pyrotechnics, consisting of sparkler firework candles, ignited the club's flammable polyurethane acoustic foam, and the fire spread rapidly. Most of the victims were poisoned by toxins released from the burning foam. Overwhelmed by the high number of victims, Romanian authorities transferred some of the seriously injured to hospitals in Israel, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany and France.
