Andreas M. Schmidt (23 November 1963 – 28 September 2017) was a German screen actor and theatre director. During his thirty-year career, he appeared in over 130 film and television productions. Biography Born in Heggen, Finnentrop, Schmidt grew up in the Märkisches Viertel in West Berlin. He was a singer and guitarist in the rock band Lillies große Liebe in the 1980s. His first acting role was in the 1987 film '. Schmidt received three nominations at the Deutscher Filmpreis, winning once in 2009. Notable film appearances by Schmidt include '' Sommer vorm Balkon'' (2005), '' The Counterfeiters'' (2007), '' The Moon and Other Lovers'' (2008) and '' Henri 4'' (2010). He also had roles in television programs such as ''Tatort'', ''Der Kriminalist'' and ''Polizeiruf 110''. In addition, he directed theatre. Schmidt lived in Kreuzberg, Berlin with his family. Andreas Schmidt is a Berlin based artist and gallerist. Biography Schmidt received a first class Bachelor of Arts (Photography) degree from Nottingham Trent University, School of Art and Design in 1992, after having moved to England from Germany in 1989. Schmidt's early work consisted mainly of straight analogue photography with a later shift in his art practice from 2008 onward towards appropriation, performance, print-on-demand artist's books and video. Work In 2005 German fine art and photography book publisher Hatje Cantz, published his first hard-back monograph ''Las Vegas'' to international critical acclaim. In the accompanying essay, Christoph Ribbat states about Schmidt's photography: "His work hints at the soberness of the New Topographics, the humor of New Color, the clever objectivity of newer German photo art." Andreas Schmidt (born 30 June 1960 in Düsseldorf) is a German classical bass-baritone in opera and concert. Career Andreas Schmidt studied church music with his father Hartmut Schmidt and singing with Ingeborg Reichelt and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His 1984 debut was in the part of Malatesta in Donizetti's ''Don Pasquale'' at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He became a member of the opera house, appearing in Mozart roles such as Guglielmo in ''Così fan tutte'' or Count Almaviva in ''Le nozze di Figaro'', as Wolfram in Wagner's ''Tannhäuser'', Posa in Verdi's ''Don Carlos'', and Marcello in Puccini's ''La Bohème''.
